As opioid overdose deaths continue to rise, the government has loosened restrictions on prescribing buprenorphine for opioid use disorder. However, recent research has shown that simply increasing access to treatment medications is not the answer. To help individuals succeed in recovery, we need a multidisciplinary approach that includes counseling, case management, and referrals to community resources.
