Some of you may have noticed we have a new business on site at Aiken Pet Fitness and Rehab! Please help me welcome Dr. Charlie Timmerman with Paws Health Wellness. He will be a great addition to our holistic team and provide additional nutrition guidance to help maintain health and wellness of our pets!

A note from Dr. Charlie:

After 52 years of practicing conventional and alternative medicine, I have changed directions to follow one of my passions---nutrition. Nutrition is the foundation of health and wellness!! There are so many things that affect our commitment to eating healthy, some of which we have no control: processed food, excessive vaccines, and overuse of pharmaceuticals all play a role in chronic diseases.

NUTRITION RESPONSE TESTING is a method to help determine what might be interfering with the bodies ability to heal and what supplements or homeopathics are needed to help the body. MRT does not diagnose or treat any specific disease but works by tesing the pets energy field to determine which organ or organs are stressed and how to priortize care.
This method can also revela stressors on the body, which include foods, chemicals, heavy metals, bacteria, yeast, fungus, viruses, parasites and scars. The conflicting stressor or stressors must be removed from the equation so healing can occur.

Since we are dealing with CHRONIC issues there is no real quick fix... most pets did not get sick quickly, so healing requires time and commitment on the part of the owner and doctor.

Libby is enjoying a morning massage and Laser Therapy. This non-invasive therapy boosts cell metabolism and increases circulation, which helps wounds heal faster, decreases swelling, and eases pain. Because of the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, lasers are beneficial for arthritis, sprains and strains, injuries to muscles, ligaments, and tendons, post-surgical and soft tissue trauma, and open wounds.

Welcome Angela Hall to the Aiken Pet Fitness team! She will be with us through the summer serving as our vet assistant. Her dog Otter will be hanging out with the red heads, so make sure to say hi to both of them next time you are in the office.

We are hiring! We are looking for a part time or full time summer vet assistant to begin as soon as possible and work through August (or the time they return to school). The primary role will be assisting with the underwater treadmill, helping clients check out, and assisting in the room with dogs that need an extra hand. Housing can be provided for those that do not live in the Aiken area. Those with a background in the veterinary field are preferred but it is not required. Buttons and her kittens are doing well and will be ready for adoption soon, so spread the word! Two kittens already have homes lined up, but the others are eager to meet their fur-ever families!

As some of you have already heard, Jess will be leaving us at the end of this month to work as an land management intern at Silver Bluff Audubon Society. She graduated in December from the University of Idaho with a Masters in Natural Resources with an emphasis Fire Ecology and Management. This job will be her transition into her new career path. She will be greatly missed by all of us and has been a big part of the growth of this clinic over the last couple years.

The kittens are here! Two boys and two girls, all healthy and adorable 💖

This is Buttons and Teddy, and they need some help. Their owner was evicted and is no longer able to take care of them, so we offered to take them and help find them a new home. Teddy (black) will be staying at the clinic until he gets neutered and vetted, and then he will be available for adoption. Buttons is extremely pregnant, so Jess Sharp-Miner will be fostering her and the kittens until they are old enough to be vaccinated and spayed/neutered. Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help cover the cost of food, supplies, and medical expenses. Please share with your friends, and we will keep you updated on when they are ready to go to their forever homes. Thank you!

Announcing a schedule change to our business hours.

Beginning Sat Jan 28 we will no longer have Saturday hours. Instead, we will transition to having Monday hours.

We would love some feedback on what our hours will be Mon- Wed. (Friday schedule will stay the same). Our current thought is having a third day that we are open until 8pm for those that have to come after work. But it will be impossible to have 3 days in a row that are 8am to 8pm with the demands of this job. So instead, opening at lunch one of those days and running to 8pm or potentially having a large gap where we are closed for the afternoon. Ex 8am-8pm on Monday and Wed, Tue 1-8pm.

Welcome back to work Diego! The last few months have been very hard for him, stuck at home on jump restriction while his leg healed. Fortunately he was cleared to come back to work this week!

We celebrated two very special birthdays this week! Happy Birthday Eva and Annette!!! 🥳🎉

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lollipop Haase. Currently we don't know the cause of her passing, but it was likely due to complications relating to her condition. What we do know was that it was quick and peaceful, she simply fell asleep on her sister's bed and did not wake up. Lollipop was an inspiration to many, and was a great example of overcoming adversity. The world was a better place with her in it, and she will be greatly missed. Run free Lollipop, we will see you in the next life 🌈
