Please meet Marty S*k, our Faeverner Beese Kramer Loyalty Award winner for 2024!
This award recognizes an alumna who has exhibited loyalty through service to her sorority and the Greek community and has shown lifelong dedication. This award is sponsored by the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Gamma. It is presented annually at the AAPA Spring Scholarship Luncheon, emphasizing recognizing her contributions for at least twenty years.
This award celebrates the accomplishments of alumnae who so tirelessly commit their time to supporting their respective fraternity and the Greek system in general. The award honors the memory of Faeverner Beese Kramer and her commitment to Delta Gamma and AAPA. As a past AAPA President, delegate, alumnae chapter president, and two-time national award winner for Delta Gamma, this award celebrates her loyalty for over 50 years.
Marty has served both her sorority and Panhellenic community for 54 years. She is dedicated to increasing sorority membership by encouraging the membership of potential new members, writing recommendations for ZTA, and referring PNMs to other Panhellenic groups for references. She encourages young women of all sororities to join their sorority alumnae and connect with other young women. She has made awareness of Panhellenic activities known to all alumnae groups, and they have responded by supporting the Mary Hall Freedom House. She has actively recruited members for her alumnae group, other ZTA alumnae groups, and other sororities.
On the national level, Marty has worked in the housing arena for more than 25 years. Among her efforts was working with the Georgia State University Administration early in developing Greek housing to make it affordable and suitable for all Panhellenic members. She worked with the administration to educate them regarding the operation of national organizations in the housing area. The result was the construction of townhomes of varying sizes to accommodate all sorority members.
Congratulations, Marty!

We celebrated Founders Day 2023 with a delicious brunch in Sandy Springs. Seeing how many chapters were represented during the chapter roll call was fantastic. We recognized our anniversary members for 25, 50, and 60 years of membership. Maidee Spencer, Peggy Graab, Melissa Derrick Adair, and Courtney Cruzan were recognized.
Our Founders Day Brunch consisted of the following delectables: charcuterie platter, salt-roasted beets, walnut salad, crispy artichokes, chicken skewers, Tortilla Espanola, Pan Purdue, Shakshuka shrimp, and grits. Alumnae chose from dessert options: Basque cheesecake, dark chocolate tart, and assorted macrons.
Jennifer Heal discussed our 150th Anniversary fundraiser, which is the sale of name badges. Please let us know if you’re interested in purchasing one or two for future events.

Atlanta Delta Gamma sisters enjoyed meeting Vicki Nixon, Gamma Xi- Texas Tech at the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee (FSPAC) event in Buckhead this evening.
Hello Delta Gamma Alumnae! My name is Laura Peterson, and I am serving as the president of our Atlanta alumnae chapter of Delta Gamma. I graduated from Kent State University and where I was an active member of the Gamma Epsilon chapter. After graduation, I moved to Atlanta and became involved with our alumnae group. I served on the Art of the Eye Committee before returning to Kent State to pursue a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I have served as the websister and rituals chair with our alumnae group and am excited to serve in my current role. I credit my colleagues, Delta Gamma sisters, and panhellenic sisters for inspiring me to return to school and earn a Clinical Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology. I am married and live in Roswell with my husband and two sons.
Each year, our chapter focuses on a theme that ties our Atlanta sisters to Delta Gamma. As events unfolded in 2021, our bonds of sisterhood were needed more than ever, and Anchored Through Generations evolved for the 2021-2022 year! Our sisters created special interest groups (SIGs) to connect and anchor our generations within Delta Gamma. These SIGs will allow sisters to connect through foundation activities and social events. The following generational SIGs were formed: Generation X and Millennials/Generation Z. Please let me know if you are interested in leading a Boomer/Silent group. Not only do we want connections to form within SIGS, but the goal is to foster connections through all generations. If you are new in town or have taken a break from Delta Gamma, these groups, in addition to our 40-50 events for members, are a perfect way to engage with your sisters. These SIGs are composed of alumnae from various chapters in the United States. Please join us!
In partnership with Prevent Blindness of Georgia, the Hall County school system is giving every child a free vision screening, an eye exam with an ophthalmologist, and even free glasses, if needed!
Earlier this year some of our Delta Gamma assisted with vision screening the over 6,000 children in Hall County schools and those that needed to be referred to an eye doctor will now get the opportunity to be seen at Gainesville Eye Associates on Saturday, May 22nd.
Delta Gamma volunteers are needed and no experiences is necessary to help on Saturday, May 22nd. We will be helping with check-in and adminstrative tasks and there are 3 different time shift options you can sign up for. There is a need for some volunteers that speak fluent Spanish to serve as interpreters so you will be prompted to answer some questions when you RSVP.

Today we are celebrating our motto: “Do Good”. Our founders chose the Greek letters Delta and Gamma because of their desire to “Do Good”. It is the driving force in all we do. In what ways are you doing good?
Today we are celebrating sisterhood. Article II of our Constitution, written by our Founders in 1873, states: The objects of this Fraternity shall be to foster high ideals of friendship among women, to promote their educational and cultural interests, to create in them a true sense of social responsibility, and to develop in them the best qualities of character.
Did you know that we have over 3,000 Delta Gammas living in the Atlanta area? Share with us what sisterhood means to you!
Today we are celebrating . Thank a sister who has lived out the Delta Gamma ritual whether it has been one year or 100. Take out some old stationery to write a letter, send her a text or pick up the phone.
Today we are celebrating International Badge Day! Participate in International Badge Day! This is a day to wear your anchor badge with pride, sisters. Share pictures of you wearing your badge on social media using and to join sorority women around in world in sharing why you are proud of your sorority membership. As former Fraternity President Maureen Sweeney Syring, Nu-Idaho, says, “Your badge is an outward symbol of an inner commitment.”
Families from the Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) and the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Gamma came together on Saturday for our 2nd Annual Fall Festival! We hope you enjoy the highlights from this year's event! Delta Gamma Foundation
After trick or treating from the tables attendees grabbed their pre-packaged snacks and made 2 fun crafts - a jingle bell pumpkin necklace and a picture frame. The photos they took at the entrance were waiting for them at the craft table to place in their frame. We got some good family photos to go in the frames too!
Check out all the tables our sisters sponsored! Some sisters designed, purchased materials, and set up their tables while others made monetary donations toward a table sponsorship. Which one is your favorite?
Our 2nd annual Fall Festival for our DG families and families from the Center for the Visually Impaired was a hit with all the kids! After checking in and using hand sanitizer they stood in front of the candy backdrop for a photo op before they went trick or treating at our socially distanced tables.
For people who are blind, the white cane is an essential tool that gives the ability to achieve a full and independent life. It allows people to move freely and safely from place to place —whether it’s at work, at school, or around our neighborhoods. White Cane Awareness Day is a way to emphasize the critical role that the tool plays.
Delta Gamma is committed to helping educate others about living with blindness, sight preservation, and serving those in the blind and visually impaired community through Service for Sight.
Here’s some info from the National Federation of the Blind about the importance of the white cane. “For blind people, the white cane allows us to move freely and safely from place to place — whether it’s at work, at school, or around our neighborhoods. When you see a blind person using a white cane, remember that the cane is our tool to safely and independently navigate the environment. If we need any help or direction, we will ask. If you are driving or cycling and see someone using a white cane, you must follow the law and stop to give that person the right of way.”

The World Health Organization estimates that there are over 250 million people worldwide living with blindness or a visual impairment. Guide dogs are a vital tool for many people in the blind and visually impaired community. Working with a guide dog can provide confidence and independence for people who would otherwise rely on others to live their daily lives.
Want to know more about how to interact with guide dogs and their handlers? Check out these tips from Guide Dogs for the Blind: bit.ly/GuideDogTips
More than 75% of visual impairment is avoidable. Delta Gamma’s philanthropy Service for Sight works to educate others about the steps we can take to preserve vision.
This World Sight Day, Delta Gamma sees hope in sight. Those with irreversible blindness can continue to lead a full life – eye health is not just about avoidable blindness. Take some time to educate yourself and others on the importance of sight preservation.
As stewards of sight, Delta Gamma’s philanthropy Service for Sight supports organizations that work to ensure that no one is needlessly visually impaired and that those with vision loss can achieve their full potential.
