🙌🏿JUNETEENTH IS ABOUT CELEBRATING NEW BEGINNINGS🙌🏿
On June 19, 1865, Union troops swarmed Galveston, Texas to inform the remaining enslaved Africans that they were free. This day which ushered in new beginnings is known as Juneteenth.
As Juneteenth approaches, let’s remember the new beginnings that unified and empowered our community. We forever cherish that moment when the pioneers of this great institution known as the ITC literally paved the way for a breakthrough in Black theological scholarship.
On February 4, 1960, the groundbreaking of the ITC was held as an eager crowd watched another moment of new beginnings. May our hearts be ignited with that same liberating spirit of expectation as we remember our rich legacy as African American scholars this Juneteenth.
