Meet Cristina Fannin, Construction Manager
"Fannin’s job is to help campus departments [at Georgia Tech] make changes to their workspace. Once the design is completed, Fannin manages the construction project.
'That is exciting for me,' she said. 'I like seeing the project come together from drawings. I am thrilled when a project is completed and the customer is happy. It doesn’t matter if it’s an office space, a lab, or a whole building.'”

Everyday Champion: Brian Oliver (BC '07)
By Adam Van Brimmer | Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
“We lived here in the U.S. during the offseason and one day, just before I’m due to sign a contract and head back over for a new season, my wife tells me she doesn’t want to go over anymore, that she wants to stay home here. One of the things my parents have always emphasized is quality of life. We were happy and financially secure — I didn’t need to continue to play basketball. So I told her, ‘Let me try . And at the end of the year, let’s revisit this. And if it’s not what I want, then we’ll figure something else out.’ I got in touch with an old friend, Niles Bolton (Niles Bolton Associates), who I’d interned with while in college and who I’d long talked to about what my next steps would be after I decided to stop playing. He invited me along for a meet-and-greet networking event put on by DPR Construction here in Atlanta. I ended up getting on with them and have moved through the ranks since.”

Well, just in case anyone was worried the message I got last week was a fake, here's further proof that I did, in fact, graduate from ! Funny how this whole journey began with me just chaperoning a study abroad trip to Africa, but quickly snowballed back into full-time student status, with a brief detour into a Ph.D. program that I quickly noped right back out of.
Regardless, I am so grateful to all the wonderful faculty and staff who helped me and the new friends and colleagues I made along the way. Congrats to the rest of the , and best of luck as we continue to navigate these uncertain and trying times.
