This is an alarming story that appeared in the Wall Street Journal yesterday. https://apple.news/AFkzJHm9IR7-Auwvm30BiSg Case and mortality rates are rising for uterine cancer, which is set to surpass ovarian cancer as the deadliest gyn cancer in the U.S. Abnormal bleeding is the most common sign of uterine cancer, especially after menopause. If you are experiencing abnormal bleeding, make an appointment with Dr. Randell to be checked. Slow-moving, common cancers often give doctors time to intervene. Don't assume a change in your bleeding is normal and simply due to fibroids or other conditions that cause abnormal bleeding.

Dr. Randell was in Boston today attending The Wall Street Journal Health Forum. The WSJ gathered an influential group of leaders from all corners of the industry for in-depth discussions on the topics making headlines. These topics ranged from advances in drug development to the new economic realities facing hospitals and health systems and investment outlooks.

We appreciate all of the emails, cards, and gifts we receive from our amazing patients. It is known that if you have fibroids, Dr. Randell is the doctor to see. His outcomes speak for themselves. We received this email today from one of our patients who Dr. Randell removed seven large fibroids with robotic assistance through three tiny incisions as an outpatient. Dr. Randell ensured that the surgery was done in a way that would preserve the patient's ability to conceive without assisted reproductive technology and would make it possible to have a vaginal delivery instead of a Cesarian section. Stories like this make our day. Congratulations and best wishes.

Representaives from Hologic were in the office today giving Dr. Randell a hands-on demonstration of the Acessa Procedure that he will be offering patients with uterine fibroids. Acessa is a clinically proven alternative to hysterectomy and myomectomy that addresses nearly any type of fibroid. It uses an ultrasound probe to locate the fibroids, guidance mapping that provides visual cues, and a percutaneous handpiece that deploys radiofrequency energy to destroy fibroid tissue through coagulative necrosis. A simple way of understanding this is that it changes the consistency of the fibroid from being hard like a baseball to soft like a marshmallow.

Dr. Randell is speaking today in Asheville, North Carolina at the 2022 Districts IV & VII American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist’s Annual District Meeting.
