National Council of Negro Women Greater Atlanta Section was chartered with 210 women on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Ben Hill United Methodist Church. It is the largest section to ever be chartered in the 81 year history of NCNW founded in 1935 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. The mission of NCNW is to lead, develop and advocate for women of African descent as they support their families and communities.

The Greater Atlanta Section of the NCNW would like to invite you to participate in the Atlanta Lupus Foundation Walk at Piedmont Park on April 27, 2024, beginning at 9 am, to honor the memory of chartering president Diane Powell Larche'.
The Lupus Foundation was very dear to Diane's heart and for years she organized groups and participants in this walk. Notably, there is no registration fee to participate, but we are encouraging everyone to donate to the foundation in honor of Diane’s legacy.

Our program highlighted African American contributions to the arts; the event was complete with singing, dancing, drumming; and we topped off the celebration with a vendor's showcase that featuring phenomenal local Black entrepreneurs.

NCNW mourns the loss of our sister Hydeia Broadbent. She was a lifelong HIV/AIDS activist who served as a leader on NCNW’s Health Equity Committee since its inception. We extend our condolences and send prayers of peace to her family during this difficult time.
