Congratulations to the 2024-2025 Magnet Ambassadors! These students will give school tours, help welcome visitors to campus, and represent us at district events throughout the year.

We had over 25 interested students who submitted applications and were interviewed by Ms. Hebert.

They were challenged to answer a potential parent asking why they should choose BRCVPA for their child. Every single applicant had a great and unique answer, which made it extremely difficult narrowing the group down to 11. They were all fantastic!

Fall Pictures will be Thursday, September 5th starting first thing in the morning. Here are some things to know:

Every child takes a picture that will be used for the BRCVPA 2024-2025 Yearbook. Photo Packages can be purchased by completing the envelope coming home this week, or can be purchased online now through Wednesday, September 4th at 2:00 p.m at SpencerStudios-BR.com.

If you pay online, you do not need to send an envelope - we will have the record.
You may start sending completed envelopes back to school tomorrow. You do not have to wait until picture morning.

Pictures will begin right at 8:00 a.m. and should be finished around 10:00 a.m. Any student who misses the opportunity to take pictures can take theirs on retake day, which is Thursday, October 17th.

Students are invited to wear school-appropriate free dress on this day if desired. Please cover all important skin, including stomachs. Shorts may be worn, but may not be more than 5" above the knee. Tennis shoes must be worn, as students will still attend movement classes and recess on this day.

We can't wait to see all of their smiles on Thursday! SAAAAAAAAY MONEY!!!!

We are so lucky to have Ms. Longeway!

Retirement didn't suit Barbara Longeway. The 76-year-old teacher gave it a try, but now she's back doing what she loves most: teaching kindergarten students at the Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts. Longeway was recently featured on WAFB's "Meet Your Neighbor" segment.

This Friday is our first PBIS Star Celebration - Football Free Dress and Grab Bag in the Classroom!

Students are invited to wear their favorite team's jersey or shirt with uniform bottoms. They will also get to pull a mystery prize from a grab bag in their teacher's classroom.

PBIS Star Celebrations are for students with As and Bs in conduct and no write-ups. Your child's teacher will be in touch with you no later than Wednesday if your child is not eligible to participate.

We will miss you so much Ms. Vicknair, but we are so proud of you! Thanks for everything you have done for BRCVPA. (We hope to) see you real soon!

2023-2024 Yearbooks are in the office! If your child still attends BRCVPA, they have already been given their yearbooks. If they are no longer a student here, parents can pick up yearbooks in the front office between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. We still have a limited number of yearbooks for sale in the front office. $30.00 each.

Ms. LaFont's class had science in the garden this week. They got to look at milkweed plants where a 🐛caterpillar🐛 has already made a home! After that, they smelled herbs like oregano and basil. Finally, they planted sweet potato slips. Many thanks to Ms. Fran Martin, and 💜LSU Master Gardener💛 who has partnered with Ms. LaFont to bring our BRCVPA school garden to life!

Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade Students loved their visit from team last week! They read stories, taught the kids a little about volleyball, and had a dance party.

Each Friday morning, our Arts Staff meets to collaborate on all of the wonderful productions, concerts, clubs, and activities they make happen here at BRCVPA.

In order for them to have time to do that, we need carpool volunteers each Friday morning from 7:55-8:25.

If you choose to volunteer, you can bring your child(ren) to the gym at 7:55, then head out to the carpool lane. If it's your first day, Ms. Hebert will be out there at 7:50 to do a quick training.

Morning carpool is pretty straightforward, so don't be intimidated! We would love to have you!

Good morning! BRCVPA is fortunate to have 4 Collection Point Buses at 3 Collection Points (Goodwood Library-2 , Southeast Middle-1 , Carver Library-1).

They save both the parents and the school time every day! If we want to keep these buses, there are important safety rules that MUST be followed:

🚌Arrive EARLY for drop-off and pick-up.
📝 Other parents are not responsible for watching your child until you arrive.
🚌Treat the parking lot like the road, and follow the laws regarding buses. WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING AND STOP SIGN IS OUT, CARS SHOULD NOT BE MOVING!
📝This includes parents in cars who have already dropped off/picked up their child. Please remain PARKED until the school bus has left the parking lot.

🚌SAFETY IS THE #1 PRIORITY. Please use caution when entering and exiting the parking lot. School zone speed limits should be followed.

Together, we can make the bus stop a safe and efficient place! Let's

From BRCVPA to the Olympics in Paris. BRCVPA alum, Kenneth Hilliard, had the opportunity to design an Olympic uniform via a contest for the United States pair of Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss. Taryn and Kristen took to the sand on Thursday, August 1 in front of the Eiffel Tower wearing the uniforms he designed in a 2-1 victory over China. He was a talented art student at BRCVPA, and graduated from LSU in 2020 with a degree in graphic design. EBR Schools

We have successfully updated the default dismissal methods of almost all of our students in School Dismissal Manager.

For efficiency, we will not be sending another Google Form. If we do not know your child's normal (default) method of transportation, we will contact you tomorrow.

Otherwise, ALL EXCEPTIONS SHOULD BE MADE IN THE SCHOOL DISMISSAL MANAGER APP.

This means, if your child's normal method is bus, but you want them to go home via carpool tomorrow, you must log in to the app and make the change/exception.

If you do not have access to the app, please email [email protected].

Thank you for partnering with us to make dismissal safe and efficient!
