“Option momentum strategy, which buys past winning stock options and sells past losing stock options, can be very profitable, especially when investors take measures to diminish transaction costs. Since the performance of the strategy has little correlation with that of a typical stock strategy, money managers can consider adding option momentum strategy to their portfolios to deliver more outperformance and better diversification. Our findings also speak to the potential price inefficiency in the options market and should encourage investors to look for more opportunities in this market, “explained Department of Finance Associate Professor Haitao Mo about his forthcoming article in the Journal of Finance titled, "Option Momentum."
Money Managers Should Consider Including Option Momentum Strategy to Deliver More Outperformance BATON ROUGE- LSU Department of Finance Associate Professor Haitao Mo and PhD student Mehdi Khorram, along with three other co-authors, analyzed momentum strategy in the stock options market in their recent paper titled "Option Momentum," which was accepted and is forthcoming in the Journal of Financ...

Department of Finance Professor Don Chance, who also holds the James C. Flores Endowed Chair of MBA Studies, was the keynote speaker for the Southwestern Finance Association meeting at the Hilton Riverside in New Orleans on March 4. Chance's keynote titled “The Risk Management of Covid,” explained how he uses risk management principles to analyze the way in which Covid-19 was managed by federal public health authorities.
Chance used little-known data items collected from studies by the Centers for Disease Control and the New York Times to try and find an explanation of why the United States ranks in the 92nd worst percentile in the Covid-19 death rate. He found that certain obvious questions that would normally be asked by a risk manager were never asked or never answered.
