Meet Dr. Nikki! Our Regional Organizing Director, caring mother of 4 and a product of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

💙Dr. Nikki who knows what it is like to be a child who is overlooked and passed onto the next grade despite not being ready. When she started 9th grade, she could not read. It took moving to a new state, a different education system, and having a mother who advocated tirelessly for her child to be on track to graduate from high school on time.

💙Now, Nikki holds a Doctoral degree in Christian counseling and is fighting daily to ensure all students can read proficiently by the end of third grade to close the achievement gap.

Meet Brigitte, our outstanding Government Affairs Director who is focused on removing obstacles that keep all children in Louisiana from attending excellent schools.

⚜️While at Stand, she has also worked on juvenile justice reforms such as eliminating fees and costs in the juvenile justice system, a policy that will put a dent in the school-to-prison pipeline.

⚜️For almost 25 years, Brigitte Nieland has been a recognized leader in Louisiana’s education reform and workforce development arenas.
