This!
Your body sends signals when it’s not getting enough good fats.
That’s because the body uses the fat you eat to build cell walls.
You have more than 10 trillion cells in your body, and every single one of them needs high-quality fat.
The higher-quality the fat you eat, the better your brain will function.
I eat fat with every meal, and I’ve never felt better. The right fats can improve your mood, skin, hair, and nails, while protecting you against Type 2 diabetes, dementia, cancer, and much more.
Among my favorite sources of fat include:
Avocados
Nuts & seeds
Fatty fish that are rich in omega-3 fats
Extra virgin olive oil
Grass-fed or sustainably raised animal products
"POWERHOUSE" FOODS
I often cringe when I hear the term "superfoods" because I don't think it's well defined, so I was excited to see this publication defining "powerhouse" foods based on nutrient density. It reported 41 different foods assessed for 17 nutrients weighted for bioavailability. These were the top 10 "powerhouse" foods (as they were called), with watercress in the lead.
Very interesting because in another publication on "anti-depressant foods" by LaChance and Ramsey (2018), watercress also came out first on the list due to its nutrient content. All in all, I support eating a colorful array of foods; however, as you can see here, when you need nutrient density overall, GREEN is the color to follow! They are rich in folates, vitamin K1, carotenoids, and minerals like magnesium and potassium.
