Mind Centered Birth Services
I am here to help build and maintain the confidence you have in your body for birth. I am a doula and childbirth educator serving the Treasure Valley area.
I am DONA and GentleBirth certified. My services provide support and tagible resources for the many stages, transitions and decisions of labor. I would be honored to serve you during your birth.
Sometimes the stars✨ just align. These clients had interviewed me, but I did not have full space on my calendar so I referred them to my colleague Sharina . On the actual day of the birth Sharina had another client in labor and asked if I was available for back up. I was, so when the clients were ready, I joined them. We had an amazing birth experience and I guess I was just destined to be their Doula. ✨ The clients were so happy that I as the backup, ended up being somebody they had already met!
These couples participated in this months in person session which completes the process of my childbirth education. 🎉🎉They’re able to do the four online sessions at their own leisure, and then this in person session rounds it all out with practicing labor positions, learning comfort measures, and asking any further questions. This hybrid style of childbirth education has worked really well for my participants! They love being able to watch the online sessions in the comfort of their home 🏠at their leisure and then coming for the in person session to get the✋ hands-on practice. This makes the partners feel more confident☺️ and comfortable on the actual day of labor👶🏻.
This client sought out a different birth experience for her second baby. Her first born in a hospital with Pitocin augmentation after her waters ruptured first. One comment she made is that nobody helped her change positions to help baby move into a good position and get labor progression going. She got an epidural when she was an 8 cm, and only pushed for about 30 minutes. This time around we prepared differently. We paid attention to baby’s position before she went into labor and in early labor. For this labor, they called me at 5:30 AM and I was there by 6:20 AM. After about an hour of laboring and changing positions at their home, doing lunges and squats in the birth sling. We went to the birth center at 7:35 AM and baby was born in the birth pool at 9:20 AM. It was almost an en-caul birth because the water bag was left intact and did not release until the shoulders were being born. She was in awe with this birth experience experience. She was surprised at how much of a difference the subtle preparation changes made.

Wanting an unmedicated birth? Labor at home as long as possible. We went back-and-forth between using the sling and hands and knees positions on the floor with lunges to move labor along. She started to transition when we were in the sling so I said we should head to the hospital. Once we got there, she was 9 1/2 cm with just a lip of cervix and feeling a little pushy. Her husband was still on the road driving in from Fruitland so we just had her labor down without actively pushing, but did not stop the progression of pushing. 🎉Her husband made it in time for her to push for about 15 or 20 minutes before her baby was born. ➡️Take my childbirth education to prepare mentally and physically for an unmedicated birth.
Such a joy to visit with my clients at their postpartum visit. I love hearing their perspective of their birth story and watch their emotions when they see the birth photos for the first time.
Doula support for scheduled cesareans. There are many reasons that doulas are helpful for your cesarean. I can prepare you for what to expect. Go over the things that can still happen from an original birth preference/plan and adjusting to a family centered cesarean. Help you set up for feeding your baby afterwards. Mentally prepare you for less anxiety. Support you and your partner if you and baby are separated after the birth. Let’s chat. Set up a consultation for services to find out more.
It’s amazing the power that having a positive birth can have in healing a past traumatic birth. I love working with clients educating them on the steps that they can take to prepare for their next birth.
Isn’t it sweet how her partner is setting up a focal point for her during the birth!
Yesterday we lost a pillar in our Doula community. Penny Simpkin was one of the founders of DONA International. Her wisdom has affected so many of us that work as Doulas. I had the honor of meeting her twice; once at a DONA conference and the other time in Boise Idaho for a meet and greet. .simkin
In my childbirth education class, we stretch out our calves and learn how to do the side lying release. Two of the preparatory things that they practice to prep before labor. The baby has to navigate coming down through the bony structure of the pelvis as well as the muscle structure of the pelvic floor. If you’re wondering how a calf stretch and the side lying release help benefit this, sign up for my class today.

You can tell the joy she gets from doing the newborn exam! It’s always a pleasure to work with at . For this birth, we had been the Doula and the midwife together for these clients for their previous birth. So it was extra special that we got to do the same set of clients for this birth again.

4 Keys to Hormone Regulation 🔑
Navigating the complex world of hormone balance can feel overwhelming, but it’s crucial for overall health and well-being. Here are four key components that can significantly influence hormonal regulation:
🍳 Balanced Nutrition: Your diet plays a pivotal role in hormone health. Focus on a nutrient-rich diet with plenty of vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, and healthy fats. These foods provide the essential building blocks for hormone production and balance.
🧘🏻♀️ Regular Exercise: Staying active isn’t just great for your physical health; it also helps balance hormones. Whether it’s a brisk walk, yoga, or strength training, regular exercise can regulate hormones like insulin, cortisol, and s*x hormones.
🛁 Stress Management: Chronic stress can wreak havoc on your hormonal balance. Techniques like meditation, deep breathing exercises, chiropractic care, and mindfulness can help manage stress levels, therefore supporting hormonal health.
👍🏻 Chiropractic Care: A well-functioning nervous system for hormone regulation is absolutely essential. Regular chiropractic adjustments help ensure that your nervous system functions at its best, which is necessary for maintaining proper communication with the system in charge of your hormones - the endocrine system.
By being mindful with these components within your daily life, you can support your body’s natural ability to regulate hormones effectively. ✨
If you don’t already have a chiropractor, give us a call at 208-922-7929 so we can help you on your journey to well balanced hormones and an improved overall wellbeing!

We finally know the cause of severe morning sickness. A remedy could be next. — National Geographic The debilitating, sometimes fatal condition called hyperemesis gravidarum has received scant funding and little acknowledgment, but new research may soon yield drugs to treat it.
This was my second go round with this client and it was baby number four for her. Typically she grows bigger babies! Last time he was 10 lbs. 13 oz. This time “only” 8 lbs. 13 oz. She did so amazing with this birth. Having a prodromal labor pattern for two days before everything fully kicked in.. She and I had been texting and talking on the phone for those two days. Once her husband called me in the evening I knew it was go time. I met her at her home and we were only there, together for about 15 minutes before we journeyed to the birth center. She labored in the tub until she started to feel the pressure of pushing. Then we transitioned to bed to finish pushing. Her mother was the one who got to catch her baby and her husband was right beside her. She was also excited to have her midwife there as well!
Valentine’s Day was spent with an amazing couple welcoming their new little love! ❤️

We had a long, overnight journey getting baby into a good position with a good active labor pattern. One we got two the birth center we didn’t have too much longer to go. She spent some time laboring in the tub and eventually we finished pushing on the birthing stool where her husband caught the baby.
I love the relaxed environment of the newborn exam at a home birth.
I love reflecting back on births. This one will always stick with me.
