🍏 New research from the Food is Medicine Institute reveals that while American diet quality has seen modest improvements since 1999, significant disparities persist:

“Our new research shows that the nation can’t achieve nutritional and health equity until we address the barriers many Americans face when it comes to accessing and eating nourishing food.” emphasizes Dariush Mozaffarian.

Participants from across 18 states convened in Washington D.C. for the inaugural Food is Medicine Advocacy Day, highlighting the critical role of nutrition interventions in healthcare.

Through meetings with Congressional offices, they advocated for policies supporting medically-tailored meals, produce prescriptions, and healthcare integration, emphasizing the need for sustained investment in evidence-based solutions to address diet-related diseases and health inequities.

🎓 We're honored to announce Catherine D'Amato, President and CEO of The Greater Boston Food Bank, as keynote speaker for our Commencement Ceremony on May 19, 2024.

🍽️ With over 40 years of advocacy, she has transformed GBFB into a $180 million charitable enterprise, distributing nearly 90 million healthy meals annually across Eastern Massachusetts.

⚪ D'Amato's leadership has been pivotal in addressing food insecurity, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and she continues to innovate solutions through initiatives like the Hunger to Health Collaboratory (H2HC).

🔬 Research linking TMAO (trimethylamine n-oxide) levels to future risk of chronic kidney disease has been recently published in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.

🤝 This collaborative study by the Cleveland Clinic and the Food is Medicine Institute explores how the bacteria in your gut, influenced by diet, can impact overall health.
