Reading “All the Way to the Ocean”
January 9, 2024
Today, despite delays and winds, and lots of rain, our group of dedicated volunteers met at Sonoraville Elementary School to read to roughly 100 third graders. It was a delightful morning, with so many questions and conversations about litter, recycling, repurposing, and then there were several topics that weren’t on the lesson plan.
Third graders are delightful.
A special thanks goes to Billie Jean Erwin (Calhoun Womans Club), Beth Cole (Mohawk), and Denise Rustad. Kevin Baggett and Margaret Boyd would have been there had it not been for the change in start times for the day. We are nearing the end of this project with a visit to Belwood Elementary Thursday of this week. Our final stop will be a visit to COBLE Elementary in the next week.
Thank you all for making this project possible with your encouragement, financial support, and especially your willingness to volunteer.
When the readings are completed, we will have reached 810 third graders.
