We are thrilled to introduce Ian Som, who is currently pursuing a dual-degree in the Criminal Justice and Public Administration (MPA) program. Ian is also a Community Service Officer, patrolling the campus.

🍂 To get ready for fall, we referenced the fantastic new virtual tour with content generated by students. Here are some things we learned about our sister school, the Rutgers School of Nursing—Camden

📍 The Nursing and Science Building, located at Fifth and Federal Streets just steps from PATCO, is a 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility serving over 1,000 nursing and science students.

🎥 The first floor features a lecture hall with advanced projector screens that can connect to other Rutgers campuses for live-streamed lectures. It also includes great study and meeting spaces for the Rutgers-Camden community.

🏢 The second and third floors house the Fundamentals Lab and Health Assessment Lab, simulating doctor's office and hospital settings.

🩺 The fourth floor contains simulation labs with lifelike mannequins for realistic practice.

🔬 This building also connects Rutgers–Camden with Cooper University Hospital, the Coriell Institute for Medical Research, and the Cooper Medical School at Rowan University, cementing Camden as a center for cutting-edge science and health research.

📅 Wayback Wednesday: Celebrating MAT-Spanish Alumni and Lifelong Learning!

Celebrate the impact of the Master of Arts in Teaching Spanish program at Rutgers-Camden, where dedicated educators like Nidza Bruno continue to evolve and excel. Published originally in 2018, Bruno’s story highlights the program’s role in helping teachers stay current with new technologies and teaching approaches.

Nidza Bruno, who graduated in May 2017, shared her experience:
"A university like Rutgers-Camden has that feeling that no matter where you are the students are alive. I am very connected to this place; it’s magic."

Bruno’s lifelong passion for teaching and learning began in her early days in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, and continued in her role as a Spanish teacher at Dr. Charles E. Brimm Medical Arts High School in Camden. The MAT-Spanish program empowered her to adapt new teaching styles, such as using multimedia tools and group chat apps, making her an exceptional educator.

Armitage Hall, one of our primary classroom buildings, was named after Arthur E. Armitage, who founded the campus as the South Jersey Law School in 1926. Armitage Hall is home to the Rutgers–Camden Learning Center and the Office of Disability Services, providing extensive resources to help students succeed. Armitage Hall also features the One Stop Student Service Center, where you can get assistance with financial aid, student accounting, and registrar questions, along with Parking/Cashiering services.

More than 12 years ago, this video captured our Summer Writers' Conference, a 10-day event of workshops and readings by esteemed writers, poets, and editors. The 26th conference featured Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy K. Smith and "New Voices" Visiting Writer Paul Lisicky, who later became the Creative Writing Program's Graduate Director.

Also in the video is Lisa Zeidner, who was the Graduate Program Director during the June 2021 event. She has reassumed the role for the new year, highlighting her ongoing dedication to literary excellence.

Rutgers-Camden Research: Breakthrough in Forensic DNA Analysis!

Rutgers-Camden Forensic Science and Computer Science join forces to develop a novel solution unifying the evaluation of and cell-free DNA, demonstrating the power of single-cell analysis to address even the most complex of casework scenarios. Desmond S. Lun, Chair of the Computer Science Department, and Catherine M. Grgicak, Graduate Program Director for the Forensic Science Graduate Program, led this innovative research.

📣 Flashback Friday: Dr. Nathaniel Wright's Insights in the Spring 2023 Digital Magazine!

Dr. Nathaniel Wright, an associate professor in our Public Administration MPA and US News Ranked Public Affairs PhD and MS programs, was featured in the Spring 2023 Digital Magazine of Rutgers-Camden. In the article, Dr. Wright discussed the significant shift in corporate social responsibility (CSR), exemplified by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard's decision to donate all future profits to fight climate change.

“Corporations have done a lot of self-reflection in terms of how they should be addressing social issues. They understand that this is what their consumer is looking for,” said Dr. Wright.
