Thankfully, we have escaped closure and we appreciate all the support from families and partners. 💙💛

We do, however, understand that the fight is not over and there are many other schools closing that affect our entire community. Sadly, there will be many students and families that are uprooted from their neighborhood school and many staff that will lose their jobs.

We stand in solidarity with our public schools and will continue to fight for saving ALL public schools in Camden. ❤️

There's Still Time to Participate in Last Camden School Board Meeting of the Year CAMDEN, NJ — The last Camden school advisory board meeting of 2020 will be held Tuesday evening, but theres still time to sign up to make comments or ask questions.

Want to give your feedback to the Long Term Planning Committee? Next meeting is January 7th. Registration is required 12pm on January 7th.

Looking back on a great day! The first phase of our new playground and our kids love it!

Phase three, which was set to begin before our possible closing was announced, would bring rain gardens and outdoor classrooms to our school.

These programs were placed at Cooper’s Poynt because of the culture of inclusion from the staff down to the kids.

This is the current district map of k-8 public schools in Camden City School District. If Cooper’s Poynt closes, every one of our 400+ kids will need to be bussed to another school. Imagine the unnecessary hardship this will put on our families and our students.

Outdoor Classrooms and Rain Gardens planned for when we save our school!

On November 10, 2020 during the Camden City School District’s long term planning, possible plans were shared to close Cooper’s Poynt Family School located in North Camden. This announcement came as a heartbreaking shock to our entire Cooper’s Poynt community. This community consists of dedicated teachers and staff, supportive families, amazing students, and strong community connections.

Over the last few years, the Cooper’s Poynt family has grown to include a partnership with the Philadelphia 76ers, Rutgers University, Rowan University, BookMates, Trust for Public Land, a national nonprofit that creates parks and protects land for people and Playworks, a national nonprofit that helps kids to stay active and build valuable life skills.

Closing Cooper’s Poynt would remove all of these valuable resources from our students and the families of North Camden. Closing Cooper’s Poynt would mean that every student would need to be bussed to another district school, creating an unnecessary hardship on families. Closing Cooper’s Poynt would completely disrupt the educational lives of over 400 students.
As the only public school in North Camden, Cooper’s Poynt should remain open to service the community and its students.
