We will be having a church work day on Saturday, August 3, starting at 8:00 a.m. We will be working both inside and outside the building. Breakfast will be provided. Come when you are able.

Good evening church family!! I hope you all are enjoying our stay in the incredible book of Ecclesiastes! It is definitely a book that invites questions, and we would love to have the opportunity to explore yours!

On Sunday, July 28th we will have a special service during our 10:15 a.m. worship service in the gym. As our Ecclesiastes series draws to a close, we will discuss any questions you have surrounding the wisdom of Ecclesiastes and its theological implications.

Those questions may be submitted BY THIS SUNDAY. There will be pieces of paper in the pew clipboards for you to write your questions on. Questions may be submitted anonymously in our offering box or emailed to [email protected].

I encourage you all to submit your questions and not let us leave this amazing book of wisdom with burning questions unasked!

Gooooooooooood morning church family! Where are the movie lovers!? I know it isn't just me! Well, we have something for the those cinephiles that also happen to be youngin's- have the youth experience a drive-in movie EXPERIENCE!

All youth are invited to go to a drive-in movie at the Wilderness Outdoor Movie Theater in Trenton, GA. on Friday, July 19. The movie cost is $7.00 and bring extra for concessions. Meet at the church at 7:15 p.m.

Fun, fellowship, and cinema.. it simply doesn't get any better. I hope to see so many there, please spread the word!

I wanted to give a huge thank you + ask for prayers for our incredible Jamaica mission team and their upcoming trip!

Thank you to everyone who provided funds this past Sunday to help with hurricane relief for our sister church in Sav la Mar. We were able to send them $370.00 on Monday to help with the purchase of much needed food supplies.

And please be in prayer for our mission team as they head down to Jamaica July 16 - 23, in service of our amazing God and to serve some incredible people and communities!

Those questions may be submitted in the last 2 weeks of the sermon series. Questions may be submitted anonymously in our offering box or emailed to [email protected].

Good morning church! I wanted this post to highlight our very own Brenna's Communion poem!

This past Sunday, Hickory Valley’s own Brenna Widener shared a beautiful and authentic poem from her heart for communion. We have had many that wanted a copy of this poem and we are pleased to share it with you below.

“God, I Am Angry” by Brenna Widener.

God, I am angry. I am hurt. Why do you keep throwing me in the dirt? I thought this is what you wanted. To be here, to do this, to be honest. Why does it feel like things will never get better? What am I doing wrong?

God, I am angry. I am hurt. For the things you have called me to have yet to work! I am tired of this, Lord. You say to trust the process, yet I can not see past this darkness.

God, I am angry. I am drowning. And it feels like nothing I do seems to be helping. Lord, I am suffocating. I cannot breathe. For all I am is grave. And it is deep.

God, I am angry. I am evil. Everything that I touch turns to peril. I cannot catch a break. Nothing seems to get better.
God, I am angry. Please, make it better. Hold me, tell me it will be alright!

God, I am angry! Where are you? I cannot see you. You aren't in the things I see. Because all I see is hevel. Things that will never level. Never to you.

God, I am angry. Angry that it's taken me so long to realize. When I asked where you were, what you were doing, where we were going. Lord, you were here with me the whole time.

God, I am angry. At myself for making such obvious mistakes. I cannot begin to comprehend how much this weighs. God, I am heavy. I am layden. I walk the green pastures and am too blind to see them.
God, I am sad. I am sorry. Please forgive me for loosing sight of what is important.

God, you are amazing. You take my pain and create a painting. A beautiful work of art to be displayed to the many.
"For this is my creation! Come and see in plenty." You say so proudly. Yet, how could you boast about me this loudly? Didn't I loose sight of what was important? Shouldn't I pay for my sins, for that is the contribution. The price of death for a sin such as mine, that is the solution.

"No, my child. That was the solution. But I died so you could no longer be the restitution. For you are the sun and the moon of which I hold so highly. If I loved you that much, it sure is unlikely. That I wouldn't give my life for yours in a heart beat. For you are mine. And therefore you are good. Sure, you make mistakes, but I still love you despite it."

God, I am thankful. I am blessed. For I have a heartbeat pounding in my chest. For I see the sun rise and fall and know that it was for me. The creations you made. Perfect in their beauty.
Despite them all, you still love me truly. Imperfect to the core. Always doubting. You love me despite it and help me when I'm drowning.

God, I am alive. I am free. All for the redemptive love and blood that saved me.
Thank you God for all of your patience. For you kindness and your adoration. For I will never comprehend your love. A love so strong you would sacrifice your only Son.

Thanks Brenna for sharing a part of your soul with us, may it bring God glory. And I can't wait to see you all soon, including our all men are invited to breakfast and fellowship on Saturday, July 6, at 8:00 a.m. in the gym (which will be getting its own post as well!).

Speaking of highlights, while we may not all have the bouldering highlights on our reel like the gentlemen in the pic, we do have a really fun opportunity to create some!

Friday, June 28, the youth will meet at the church at 4:30 p.m. to go downtown for rock climbing and dinner. Bring $25.00 for dinner.

This is an incredible opportunity, youth I can't encourage you enough to come on down! Parents, I encourage you to bring this up to the kiddos so they'll come be a part of an amazing group of people that love God and love having a blast! Nothing beats getting active either, we all could benefit from that!

This is a post for you saying thank you, here are your 💐! God is active at HVCC, and no better way to see that then the joy in all of the kiddos’ heart as they have a blast and learn about God together!
