We’ve had an incredible last couple of weeks starting our classes and learning what will be involved in practicum.

We are looking forward to where God will lead us this semester!

"I think it was when I moved in that it first hit me that this was going to be different than anything I’d experienced before. Each of us was living in different houses with different families, and I was struck by just how immersed I was in a new culture. You see, the Fiji I lived in was quite different from the tourist focused resorts, I was in real Fiji, riding the bus every day walking however many miles we needed to walk that day, preaching under an impressively simple structure made from poles and corrugated aluminum. When lying in bed or walking down a dirt road, or really much of anything, I recognized just how good we have it in the U.S. We complain so much over so little! (though I will admit that closing windows are really nice for keeping the mosquitos out) It helped me to value the things that truly matter, like that «this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.» (Matt 24:14) It certainly prepared me for ministry in a way no classroom could."

Welcome to Marie Bes, our new SALT Program Outreach Coordinator. Marie studied theology at Oakwood, then graduated with an M.Div. degree from Andrews University. For the last ten years, she has been doing contract Bible work for the Southern Union. In addition to Bible work, Marie has also trained as a medical missionary at Butler Creek Health Education Center. Marie is married to Arjen, a carpenter from the Netherlands, who has also done Bible work alongside Marie.

We are glad we found a spirit-filled, dedicated couple to join us in our SALT Program.

Was a blessed week to participate in the It Is Written Recharge training in partnership with the Southwestern Union Conference. Pastors and church leaders from across the NAD left "recharged" to do more evangelism.

We had another great SALT class this year. SALT is the It Is Written evangelism training school, in cooperation with Southern Adventist University. AWESOME students who studied the Bible with hundreds of people, preached their own evangelistic series, and won souls. Big thanks to SALT Director, Pastor Douglas Na'a and our SALT mentors. God blessed again!

“There were many highlights from my trip to the Dominican Republic but a few things stand out to me the most. First, I had never traveled outside the country prior to this mission trip and I had very little preaching experience. I had some fears because I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to do what God was calling me to do. However, in the days leading up to our departure, God prepared my heart during my personal devotional time. He reminded me of His love for me and that I had nothing to fear because He would be with me. I experienced the peace that only God can give during my time in the Dominican Republic. Another highlight was seeing how the Holy Spirit worked through me when I was preaching. The pastor, who was also my translator, told me that a couple who had been coming to the church for a while had been convicted by the messages I was preaching and that’s why they responded to the appeal for baptism. That same couple was baptized on the Sabbath morning that the series ended. It was so encouraging to know that God can truly use anyone who is surrendered, faithful, and obedient.“ - Amanda Stevens.

It is hard to find the right words to express our experience in the Dominican Republic. We witnessed the Holy Spirit at work, moving through us and touching hearts. His presence brought peace and hope to those in need. This journey revealed the profound privilege of sharing the Good News-a privilege bestowed upon every willing heart. Praise God for this opportunity!

Here is what one of the students, Judah Emelio, shared about his experience in the Dominican Republic: "This trip was amazing throughout all the ups and downs that happened.
Something that truly stood out for me is that God will use you as long as you stay faithful. There were nights where I was on fire and everything went perfectly. There were nights where things went wrong and I was discouraged. One young woman at the end of the series shared a brief testimony of how she came every night, she discovered newfound truth through the messages, and now she knows for sure that she has A New Beginning in Christ. Isaiah 40:29-31, Amen.”

What is SALT to us?

SALT is a family that is one with Christ. It is a community where we are united with one purpose - love for God.

SALT is a place where our faith becomes personal to us. It is a place where we learn that God can work through anyone as long as they have a willing heart.

SALT is a place where we learn there are no limits for ministry. It is a place where we do things we never thought we could do before when God is on our side.

SALT is a place that impacts us for the rest of our lives.

SALT is a place where people are on fire for Jesus!

Today is day 4 of the Evangelistic Series. It’s a blessing to see people come and listen to the Message!

First day of practicum and it was such a blessing! SALT class of 2023 are on fire for the Lord. Keep them in prayer as they continue to go door to door seeking for those who are hungry for Gods word that they may share the gospel with them.
