Ladder 13 was proud to represent LCFD # 1 supporting the Wyoming Special Olympics! Today’s convey through Cheyenne for the Special Olympics Wyoming had 71 trucks.

Laramie County Sheriff's Office joined us this morning and helped with our flag lowering ceremony. We will never forget.

B-13 is at the Fish Creek Fire. Eng Boss Towers, and Eng Boss Trainee Wisehart, FF’s Sage (FD-6) and Smith (FD-10) make up the crew. They are assigned to structure protection as the fire continues to grow, now at 19,952 acres and 54% contained.

Today we said goodbye to our brother Firefighter Daniel Opferman. FF Opferman joined the department in June 2022 and will be greatly missed by all. He always had a smile on his face and brightened every room he walked into.

It's ! It's been an eventful few weeks for District 1's wildland division. We have personnel on a California helicopter base, on the Alexander Mtn. Fire, CO, two trucks assisted at the Pleasant Valley Fire, WY, and Brush 1-3 on preposition in Conifer, CO with US Forestry.

The Pleasant Valley Fire is at 100% containment as of today. Firefighters are still coordinating final mop-up and rehab activities on private, state, and BLM lands. It is expected for this important work to continue through this week.

Wyoming State Forestry is thankful to all the firefighters, counties, state and federal agencies, and to the communities impacted for their support and efforts throughout the Pleasant Valley fire.

Over the course of the last five days, LCFD 1 has been actively sending crews to fight fire at the Pleasant Valley Fire just east of Guernsey. As of 8/5/24 the fire is 60% contained.

Wyoming is officially in fire season! According to the National Incident Management Situation Report (8/5/24) There are currently eleven wildland fires in the Rocky Mountain area, totaling over 70,000 acres burned in the past week. While firefighters try to save as much as possible in the event of a disaster, everyone should be doing their due diligence to protect their property and their home. Laramie County Fire Districts lend a helping hand!

Providing mutual aid to our neighbors across the state line is one of the many things we love to do at fire district 1! Today we helped Nunn Fire around 6:08 pm with a lightning strike fire east of mm 296 I-25. Thanks to our auto-aid partners, LCFA that responded with us. We had a total of 8 brush trucks, 1 tender and 3 command units on scene. Fire was contained and extinguished at 11.5 acres.

Over the course of the last week, 11 members from LCFD 1 and 4 members from F.E. Warren AFB Fire participated in a Rope Rescue Technician course taught by Rescue Solutions. During the week, they learned everything from basic skills such as repelling, self rescue, building systems, anchor points, etc to technician level skills such as building compound and complex systems, highline rescues, etc.

Brush 13 is headed to the Lake Fire in California. The crew consists of 2 of our members and 2 members from other Laramie County Fire Districts 6 and 10! We’re excited to help and support our firefighting family in California! Stay safe guys!

Update: gas line has been fixed and buried. Road is open. Don’t forget to call 811 before any digging or ground work!

LCFD 1 is on an active gas leak call in the 300 Block of Murray Rd. Please avoid the area until further notice.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning including Cheyenne WY, Hillsdale WY and Orchard Valley WY until 6:45 PM MDT. The primary threat will be gusty winds to 60 mph and pea size hail.

LCFD1 has responded to multiple grass fires in the last several weeks, which usually increase in frequency as temperatures rise for the summer. While enjoying the Wyoming outdoors be aware of any potential fire hazards, ignition sources, and local burn bans.
