Urban Sustain

Our program gives skills in job readiness, communication, civics and environmental science; it gives the youth a new respect for their community and future.

Urban Sustain, a 501(c) (3) c nonprofit organization, intends to transform the lives of youth by raising social consciousness through education and leadership development on environmental health concerns in violence plagued communities. Past projects include performing epidemiological surveys for asthma, lead, water and air pollution to create a final outreach project for their community such using a variety of formats.

You can join Camp DeeJay on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) this fall. You'll learn how to make the crowd move in this fun technology and music program that teaches the technical, artistic and business skills of being a deejay. It’s a unique and free after school program made possible through an arrangement between LifeVine Works, the City of Chicago’s After School Matters and UIC’s Chance Learning Center. Camp DeeJay is looking for 15 apprentices who are enthused about:

• Learning beginning to advanced deejay techniques
• Earning 6 community service credit hours
• Being a part of a professional sound and arts team that provides professional music to real audiences
• Earning an end-of-program monetary stipend

Interviews begin the week of September 10th and the program starts October 1st, so apply here: http://www.lifevineworks.org/join-an-activity---programs-for-teens.html. You can also print out the attached flier and share it.

Good Luck.
