Taking a look back at a few favorite pictures from our Living Room and Lawn Terrace at the Lake Forest Showhouse, which opened a year ago (!) this weekend! And as much fun as it was to design and to experience, it’s even more important to remember the great cause behind it!
We LOVE creating a great Kitchen for our clients, and this one is no exception. For a family who really likes to entertain, this Kitchen is open to both the Family Room and Dining Room, so this centrally located space has to hold its ground. We conceptualized the cabinetry with detailed yet subtle profiles and chose an array of finishes to bring depth to the space. From a muted plaid abaca wallpaper on the ceiling, to the handcrafted ceramic tile on all walls, to the luxurious (yet family-friendly) velvet on the counter stools, textures play an important role in creating a cohesive whole. Cucina Vincere, anyone?
The warm tones of this dining room play off the bright light streaming in from the bay, which envelops the serpentine staircase in our Lakeview project. The bronze metallic leather seat on the banquette provides a hint of glam, while the modern print on the chairs provides a subtle foil to the more traditional shield back. The staircase adds to the drama, connecting all four levels of this special home.
The sinuous staircase in this duplex soaring high above Chicago has a muscularity that matches the “City of Broad Shoulders.” The calm, neutral fabrics and furnishings play well against the vibrancy and dynamism of the city below, while the viewing corner is a perfect place to start or end the day.
Welcome home! We designed the Foyer in our gut renovation and expansion of this Wrigleyville greystone to be plausibly original, but fully of the moment. With the inset terrazzo floor bordered by Nero Marquina marble complementing the deep neutrals and nearly black door and Living Room trim, we wanted this entry to be approachably dramatic.
Wrapping up our Laguna Beach and LA trip last night with a ridiculously delicious dinner at the Mozzarella Bar at one of our all-time favorite restaurants, . And Mike getting into a serious food chat with the iconic - perfection! Or “chef’s kiss,” one might say. With a special shoutout to Elyssa, for the always fabulous service!
Jewel tones, velvets, linens, and wools come together to create this cozy corner in our Lakeview project, while the photograph adds a sense of history.
We’re excited to share the cover from the Jan/Feb 2024 LUXE Chicago magazine, featuring a favorite Lakeview project for some of our favorite clients! Our thanks to , , and the entire team at LUXE! And thanks to , who did such a great job on photography! More to come!
With this spectacular view as a backdrop, we opted for a neutral palette with clean lines and calm tones in our client’s duplex penthouse apartment.
We are thrilled to include this exquisite Line Vautrin Soleil à Pointes n°3 mirror in our Lake Forest Showhouse Living room, with thanks to the Carpenters Workshop Gallery ().
Dubbed "the poetess of metal”, Line Vautrin marked the 20th century with her inventive, lyrical work. Having started as a jewelry designer, Vautrin expanded her practice into decorative boxes, lamp bases, mirrors and other objects while maintaining the delicate whimsy of her initial creations. She achieved wide-spread recognition after her involvement in the 1937 Exposition Universelle in Paris.
Vautrin began producing her trademark mirrors in the 1950s from a new self-designed resin—Talosel, derived from cellulose acetate—for which she filed a patent. Malleable under the effect of heat, Talosel allowed for the inlaying of fragments of glass and colored mirrors and became a staple of her practice. Vautrin heated, bent, and scarified with the use of pliers, scissors, and scalpels, creating unique entanglements that feature a tactile sensitivity and subtlety of modeling. Her series of Soleil mirrors, vary in size, are comprised of a large crown formed by two alternating sunrays inlaid with orange and gold mirrors. This form of Soleil symbolizes heat, dryness, and embodies Vautrin’s preferred figure - the sun - while at the same time presents a contrastingly cold silver glass surface of the central mirror. The frame of the mirror presents a very rare color palette in Vautrin’s work.
For the fabulous outdoor space adjacent to our Living Room at the Lake Forest Showhouse, we loved working with Brown Jordan to design an elegant array of their gorgeous furniture, including new finishes on the chaises and chairs! With one-off garden elements we sourced from Finnegan Gallery and beautiful surroundings by Rosborough Partners, this is a perfect place for entertaining and relaxation!
We LOVE the juxtaposition of the highly detailed Alfonso Marina “Brussels” cabinet and the Roger Herman vessel from Carpenters Workshop Gallery! With the added texture and subtle glamor of the de Gournay slub silk wallpaper and Holland & Sherry custom embroidered curtains as a backdrop, and the Jean-Michel Frank chair from Holly Hunt and Ingrid Donat bronze and lacquer coffee table, also from CWG, resting atop the stunning Ariana room-size hand-knotted rug, this is one of our favorites from our Living Room at the Lake Forest Showhouse!
It’s opening day at the Lake Forest Showhouse!! We had a ton of fun designing and installing our Living Room! Our thanks to the Board and the volunteers for pulling together this wonderful house, filled with beautiful rooms by the most talented group of designers. Open through June 4, please come out to see the amazing spaces and support this wonderful cause!
Opening Night of the Lake Forest Showhouse is here! We are so excited and honored to participate in this gorgeous showhouse among so many talented designers, all working together for such an amazing cause. This is a watercolor sneak peek of our room, and we hope everyone will come out to see it in person. This showhouse, with so many fabulous spaces, supports the good works of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago. Tickets are available from May 6 through June 4.
Simple and serene, this pied-a-terre is a study in silvery neutrals. With elegant lines echoing the glass building envelope, the soothing palette provides respite after a day (or night) on the town.
From day into evening, the living room of this condo really holds the eye. With its sumptuous mix of luxurious textures and striking art, it’s perfect for an intimate gathering or the liveliest party.
Modern comfort and elegant restraint were the jumping off points for this Lincoln Park living room. A favorite project with great clients, Vincere completed all of the interior architecture and interior design. A subtle palette and architectural pieces ground the space, while a vintage painting and brass wire sculpture we commissioned on behalf of our clients add the perfect finishing touches.
Revisiting one of our favorites - this subtle and serene master suite is the epitome of quiet luxury. With an emphasis on understated sophistication, raw silk walls, linen rugs, and some favorite art and objects all work together in perfect harmony.
We are thrilled to be included on “The Hot List” in Modern Luxury Interiors Chicago’s current issue, along with a fabulous group of creatives! Our thanks to J.P. Anderson and the editors for this honor, which acknowledges the “25 interior designers, architects and showrooms shaping the Chicago decor scene.” Congrats to all!
A sculptural staircase takes center stage in this modern Lincoln Park house. Taking our cue from our clients, who asked for an open and airy feel for their young family, we encased the staircase in glass and steel, creating a focal point for their home.
Coziness and warmth are key in our client’s entertainment room, where the luxe velvet sectional and textured pillows anchor a prized heirloom tapestry.
