Eric Nam: No One Has ‘Perfect’ Mental Health 07/30/2024

And when they do, it's often at a time of crisis where it's like far too late."

With the K-pop genre one of the hardest hit by mental health issues, Nam and his brothers created a self-care app, Mindset, aimed at Gen-Z youth, allowing them to see and hear other leading artists open up about their mental health experiences and ways they work to stay well.

We were thrilled to host the President and CEO of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, Charles Ingoglia at Thresholds Center for Mental Wellbeing Ravenswood yesterday. Our wonderful staff facilitated tours of the therapy and group spaces, the Living Room: Forever Hope, our integrated healthcare partners Tapestry 360 Health and Genoa Healthcare pharmacy, and crisis response program - all in this one location.

Thresholds is proud to now have four open and operating Centers for Mental Wellbeing - in Ravenswood, McHenry County, Chicago's South Side, and Kankakee - and it's because of support and partnerships like these that make that possible.

Singer J Balvin Says Meditation Has Helped His Anxiety and Depression: 'I Have Struggled' 07/09/2024

"What makes mental health universal is that it does not discriminate. Mental health doesn’t care about your age, your race, your background; none of those things." Just as singer J Balvin says, mental health is universal, something that can be shared and felt by all of us at any given time. In a way, it connects us. But stigma, fear, and shame keep us from talking about it or embracing treatment.

"And also, because I am Latino — I know there can be a certain stigma in my community when it comes to mental well-being. Many Latino men will not want to talk about depression, because they fear it is not a manly thing, or that they will then be known as loco. But I don’t hesitate to say that I have been depressed."

July is National , bringing focus to the unique needs and challenges for racial and ethnic minority populations.

While mental health is universal, and does not discriminate, treatment and recovery should be individualized. This is built into the foundation of Thresholds’ service model, tailoring care to each client as needed.

Finding the right healthcare provider for you can be a difficult feat. We’ve included some resources (slide 9) to help get you started. Please tag and share others in the comments!

Thank you to Chicago Sister Cities International for making Thresholds one of the stops on your site visits across the city! We were so proud to be chosen as a host of more than 40 international delegates from eight of Chicago's sister cities as they traveled around to learn about various social service practices.

Over the course of these visits, these international delegates were able to learn how Chicago addresses social challenges including trauma-informed care, expanding mental health supports, how to support the social service workforce, and how to be inclusive in this work.
