Be sure to pay close attention if you live downstream this week! Because of the high predicted temperatures, the dam may need to increase power generation!
Water release information for AEP's Claytor, Buck, and Byllesby hydro dams is updated every fifteen minutes. PLEASE NOTE: Forecast information is estimated. Water travel times may be affected by water conditions, precipitation in the watershed and other factors.
♨️ HOT TEMPS CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEK ♨️
The National Weather Service is calling for continued hot temperatures through the week and into the weekend. These temperatures could require us to increase power generation at Claytor Hydroelectric facility to maintain reliability of the regional electric grid.
If we are notified to increase power generation, we will have little time to alert the public about the potential of increased downstream flows.
Please continue to check back for updates as they become available and visit http://ms.spr.ly/6187YLXgW to view real-time water levels at our hydro facilities.
