We are saddened to learn of the passing of former student Lane Ham. He was a wonderful representation of the Clemson Family and will certainly be missed beyond measure. Our hearts are with his family and friends during this time. π
With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of one of our own, Animal Health Programsβ Livestock Control Officer Lane Ham.
Lane graduated from Clemson University in 2012 with an Animal and Veterinary Sciences degree, and joined Clemson University Livestock-Poultry Health as a Livestock Inspector in May 2014 and became a Livestock Control Officer in August 2015. Many of you may have met Lane in our livestock markets or at the check-ins for dairy or cattle shows held at the Garrison Arena during the 10 years he was with LPH.
Please keep Lane's family and co-workers in your prayers during this difficult time. We remember and appreciate all the work Lane has done protecting the animal health and serving the people of South Carolina.
He will be missed.
We are so proud of our wonderful students and their great success! π€© We can't wait to see the impact you each have on the world! Go Tigers! π π

Today, we want to share an awesome trip the Pre-Vet Club took this past weekend! This trip was very focused on the equine industry and the variety of jobs it can provide for students. π They started the trip in Lexington, KY, by watching the Keeneland Horse Races and had a behind-the-scenes tour of the racing industry. Then they toured several Equine Hospitals, including Hagyard and Rood & Riddle, as well as a few Equine Farms, including Taylor Made. On their way back, they toured the University of Tennessee Veterinary School and Hospital with Dr. Stafford! We hope the trip has provided great insight for our students about the equine industry and we are so proud of how well they represent Clemson! π€©
Happy Tuesday, Tigers!! π This Thursday, we will be hosting our end-of-semester ice cream social! All AVS Students are welcome to attend and celebrate; we will cover the ice cream! π Be sure to drop-in to '55 Exchange, April 18th between 11:30 AM & 1:00 PM to get your free scoop! π¦π¨

Ashlee Romp | Junior AVS PreVet
Hi! My name is Ashlee Romp and I'm currently a junior majoring in Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Clemson University, set to graduate this December! Following my graduation, I'm looking forward to pursuing Veterinary School in the Fall with aspirations of specializing in small animal surgery. Recently, I had the honor of participating in the CAFLS Undergraduate Research Initiative Competition and was thrilled to be awarded 1st Place! I can not thank Clemson's CAFLS college enough as they have equipped me with invaluable skills for life, provided rigorous academic challenges, and fostered a supportive community for my personal growth. Throughout my time here, I've actively engaged in leadership roles such as President of the Pre-Vet Club, Fundraising Chair for Block and Bridle, and opportunities to give back to the college as a CAFLS Ambassador.
I'm deeply passionate about supporting success and nurturing a supportive environment for fellow AVS majors through the Pre-Vet club. Recognizing the competitiveness of vet school applications, I believe it's crucial that we support one another on this journey toward our shared goals.
Lastly, I have to emphasize how incredibly supportive and encouraging the faculty at Clemson is; they continue to guide and challenge me! Clemson has equipped me with the resources, expertise, and encouragement needed to pursue my career aspirations!
-Ashlee

A group of our students competed in the Undergraduate Student Poster Competition held by the International Embryo Technology Society (IETS). Their poster was awarded runner-up, and these students were able to accept the award in person!
