Dr. Crudder brings over 37 years of distinguished experience in education, having excelled at every level from primary to higher education. He has been honored with numerous awards, including the A+ School Principal Award (twice), the Golden Bell Award, and Adjunct Professor of the Year. 🏆

Known for his exceptional work with highly gifted students and his transformational leadership, Dr. Crudder is celebrated as a servant leader dedicated to fostering an enriching and dynamic learning environment. His extensive expertise in leadership development and educational excellence makes him the perfect fit to lead our community.

One of our Menlo parents shared the following, and it's stories like this that reminds us how special our school is, and makes it the place where northeast Ohio's gifted students thrive!

"I'm sharing this for two reasons:
1. For any first floor parents whose kids shared they had a random violin recital on the last day of school 🥴🥴, and
2. To express appreciation to the MPA community for letting things like this happen.

On the penultimate day of school, Zion independently started practicing his violin. He told me that this school year "meant a lot to [him] and that [he] really wants to do something special to thank them" and in his mind... He could give to them all at once by playing his violin for them.

Honestly, I tried to convince him out of it.

First, because I'm sure a random violin concert wasn't in the classroom schedule for the last day of school.

Second, I was worried the kids would laugh at him. Not only because his confidence is currently much greater than his talent 🥴, but also because I thought young kids probably didn't understand that he was doing this as an act of love and appreciation and would think it was so weird.

But, he insisted. He begged me to email his teacher to ask, and he didn't only want to play for his class, he wanted to play for the ENTIRE first floor. I obliged and emailed the teacher and gave her every opportunity to say no... But she said sure.

He woke up so excited. He brought his violin to school. Aaaand from the looks of the pictures we just got, it looks like he played for the entire first floor, just like he hoped he could.

He honestly hasn't said much about it since. Almost like he just did what he felt was expected of him to show his gratitude for the year, that it isn't a big deal. But I know how unusual and special this is, which is why I wanted to share."

Field Day is always one of our favorite days and it was a great way to end the amazing school year!

Since he joined Menlo Park Academy in late January, Encore STEM Teacher Mr. Joel Black has been busy upgrading his classroom. Additions include three new 3D printers (bringing the total to five) and a vinyl cutter. Mr. Black is incorporating the cutter and 3D printers into projects for all of his K-8 classes.

In one of Menlo Park Academy's after-school clubs, Mad Science® STEM Odyssey, run by Mad Science Northeast Ohio, our Wizards have been learning about static electricity and had a chance to touch a Van de Graaff generator. The results are positively (pun intended) hair-raising!

It was chilly, but we had so much fun last night at the Cleveland Guardians game! Our Middle School Choir sang the National Anthem while our ASL students signed along with them. What a great experience for our Menlo students!

In honor of Earth Day, Menlo parents Angie Schmitt and Jeff Sugalski arranged for a group of students and parents to form a "bike bus" to meet and ride their bikes to school together. Not an easy feat considering one of the kids had a 35 pound glockenspiel!

Today, Menlo Park Academy's new school sign was installed, and we think it looks great! Although it looks like it's made of brick and wood, it's actually made of durable composite materials that will stand up to Cleveland's harshest weather and be durable over time.
