Congratulations to these College Park Scholars who received Boren Scholarships!

These will spend an academic year studying their target language in their host countries:

Jenna DiMaggio ’26, an .artsscholars alum majoring in English, Arabic studies, and Spanish language and literature, will study Arabic in Morocco. She is interested in the diverse literature and culture of borderland communities and plans to attend law school after graduation.

Evan Finnessy ’25, an Scholar double-majoring in Russian language and literature and Arabic studies, will study Arabic in Morocco. He is an alum of the 2022 Critical Language Scholarship for Russian. Upon the completion of his year abroad, he plans to enter the field of refugee relocation and resettlement.Feriel Friloux ’25, an Arabic studies major, will study Arabic in Morocco. Feriel hopes to work in U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Amaya Greenberg ’25, an SDU Scholar majoring in government and politics and Arabic studies, will study Arabic in Morocco. Amaya plans to enter a federal career focused on relations between the U.S. and the Arab world.

Zachary Wandalowski ’24, an alum with a double major in government and politics and economics and a minor in German studies, will study Tagalog in the Philippines.

The College Park Scholars office will be closed in observance of the Independence Day holiday on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5.

We will resume operations on Monday, July 8, 2024.

While our incoming students are learning more about UMD and registering for Fall classes during our Summer Orientation sessions, College Park Scholars Faculty and Staff from our 13 programs meet and learn more great ways to help our students succeed.

In observance of Juneteenth, the College Park Scholars Central Office will be closed on Wednesday, June 19. We'll be back in the office on Thursday, June 20.

Congratulations to ETE Scholars alum Olivia Griffith on being awarded the prestigious NOAA Hollings Scholarship!

Griffith credits her experiences in the ETE Scholars Program for teaching her new mentoring skills.

“It was really rewarding,” she said. “We had the opportunity to mentor five freshmen, and we got close with them. We guided them and helped them choose their yearlong project, which is usually an internship.”

Terp Awarded NOAA Hollings Scholarship Prestigious Award Will Fund Student’s Meteorological, Climate Research

Congrats to rising junior and alum Olivia Griffith on receiving a Hollings Scholarship!

Olivia is now interning with NOAA's Center for Weather and Climate Prediction in College Park and plans to combine her interests in meteorology, math and GIS.
