When children are too ill to go home for Christmas, and stay in hospital over the holidays, it’s a difficult time for them and their families.

Ronald McDonald house is a home away from home that provide comfort, support and resources to families who travel far from home for medical treatment that their child needs.

There are several items that the Ronald McDonald house needs and during this time of giving so let’s pull together and try to provide what we can for these families who are caring for their children- often leaving their family and other children behind.

You may donate by buying items from the list below and meeting us in Columbiana, Alabam at the Columbiana square (the large parking lot across the street from The Local Oyster Bar) Saturday January 15th for drop off. Time of drop off TBA. You may also donate by purchasing items from this amazon wish list link: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/6HNX7RRBAZ7H?ref_=wl_share

Per Ronald Mcdonals house:

“Updated February 2, 2021 Due to COVID-19 (novel coronavirus), we are asking for donations of essential items used in our House and we are temporarily suspending donation intake of non-essential items such as pop tabs and toys. Donations of essential items will ensure our families are provided for during this difficult time.
Please note: Due to the health concerns of the families, we can only accept new, unexpired items. Ronald McDonald House is a non-denominational organization. We hope you’ll understand that we cannot accept any items that are religious in nature.”

🙋‍♀️ Hello there!

Just checking in and announcing that, during this crazy COVID-19 frenzy, all of our food pantries are currently stocked. We realize with all that is going on that it was a pretty important time to be sure of that.

With that being said, we are not sure how well we will be able to keep it stocked until things settle down.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Now to pass along some helpful tips regarding the Corona virus:

We know we should wash our hands. But here is what to do in the event we DO contract coronavirus...

You basically just want to prepare as though you know you’re going to get a nasty respiratory bug, like bronchitis or pneumonia. You just have the foresight to know it’s coming.

Things you should actually buy ahead of time: Kleenex, Acetaminophen (Tylenol), Ibuprofen (Advil), Mucinex, Robitussin or whatever your generic cough medicine of choice is (check the label and make sure you're not doubling up on acetaminophen - some brands like DayQuil have it included and you don't want that). You want a cough medicine with both a cough suppressant and expectorant. Vick's vaporub for your chest is also a great suggestion.

If you don’t have a humidifier, that would be a good thing to buy and run in your room when you go to bed overnight. (You can also just turn the shower on hot and sit in the bathroom breathing in the steam). If you have a history of asthma and you have a prescription inhaler, make sure the one you have isn’t expired and refill it/get a new one if it is.

This is also a good time to meal prep: make a big batch of your favorite soup to freeze and have on hand. Whatever your favorite clear fluids are to drink (Sprite, juice, waters, whatever floats your boat), stock your pantry with those.

For symptom management, use the meds mentioned above. For a fever over 101, alternate Tylenol and Advil so you’re taking a dose of one, then the other every 3 hours.

Drink A TON, hydrate hydrate hydrate. Rest lots! You should not be leaving your house except to go to the doctor, and if you do, wear a mask (regular is fine, you don’t need a N95).

You DO NOT NEED TO GO TO THE ER unless you are having trouble breathing or your fever is very high (over 103.5) and unmanaged with meds. 90% of healthy adult cases thus far have been managed at home with basic rest/hydration/over-the-counter meds. We don’t want to clog the ERs unless you’re actually in distress. The hospital beds will be used for people who actively need oxygen/breathing treatments/IV fluids.

If you have a pre-existing lung condition (COPD, emphysema, lung cancer) or are on immunosuppressants, now is a great time to talk to your P*P or specialist about what they would like you to do if you get sick. They might have plans to get you admitted and bypass the ER entirely.

One major relief to you parents is that kids do VERY well with coronavirus— they usually bounce back in a few days. Almost no kids have required hospitalization (unless they have a lung disease like CF). Just use pediatric dosing of the same,
If you have questions, consult your physician. Just be calm and prepare rationally and everything will be just fine. 👍

Want to HELP??? Here's how:

Lee County was destroyed on Sunday, March 9th by an EF-4 tornado 🌪

This Saturday, March 9th, a group of volunteers will be going to Lee County to deliver supplies and assist with cleanup within the community.

At this time, there isn't a demand for clothes or food due to the lack of space for storage. However, we have spoken with disaster relief in that area and there seems to be a huge need for cleaning supplies. 🚮

If you would like to help with monetary donations or gift cards to help with supplies, we will gladly take it to those in need. All proceeds will be used to purchase supplies needed in the community.

Requested supplies are as follows: industrial trash bags, work gloves, rakes, shovels, tarps, chains, towels, rags, paper towels, soap, bleach, etc..

Thank you all so much in advance for the help! These families have lost nearly everything, so any donation will help!

*** Please drop off any donations to: Columbiana Clinic

Between the hours 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Wednesday (03-06-19) and Thursday (03-07-19) and then on Friday (03-08-19) between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.***

FINALLY! A beautiful day of sunshine 🌞 to get some much needed repairs done.🛠 We went around about town replacing hinges, tightening screws, replacing door latches & placing our name plates on all our pantries. ❤❤❤ We also did a little grocery shopping and restocking!!! 🌽🥕🥫🥫🍲🍜🍛🥡

Shout out to all those that have helped contribute to our community pantries. They empty rather quickly, so we are ever so grateful for the love, help & support of the community. 👏👏👏

🌟 Also....the Little Libraries have been so much FUN!!! We love seeing the things people have shared! 🌟

Thank you all again for the support!

We want to send a special thank you to The Boy Scouts Troop #560, Cub Scouts Troop #560, and the Girl Scouts Troop #564 for holding a food drive in November and generously contributing to our public food pantries. We have been sooo busy here lately trying to FINALLY get things going with our Little Food Pantries & Little Libraries. Whew...it's been a long, but great process!

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Drum roll please..... OUR BOXES ARE UP!!! We have 5 total in Columbiana (3 food pantries & 2 little libraries) & then we currently have 2 in Clanton!!!

We have shopped & stocked all pantries with our stock pile as well as generous help from our surrounding citizens of Columbiana. Thank you sooo much to those that have contributed food, books & monetary donations. We are so excited to have these up & finally available 😁😁😁

We are still smoothing out some loose ends & have just a few more things to do, but the boxes are up! We'll soon be showcasing each one so that we can get the word out there as far as where each one is located, how to help, where to donate if they are full, etc.

We have so many people to thank! It's really overwhelming at the interest & support we've received. We are blessed by the best for sure!

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Just for a little recap as to who we are & what we're doing: Three Hearts One Mission is a non-profit organization based out of Shelby County, Alabama. Three Hearts started when three great friends decided to make a positive impact on their community. The founding members of Three Hearts, Rachel, Heather & Julie, saw a need in the community to increase food supply to help feed the hungry and to help provide better access to books. Three hearts has several projects in store including a Little Food Pantry & Little Library to be placed within their community. Since starting Three Hearts One Mission, we three best friends realize there are more needs in the area that reach beyond our initial projects. New projects, missions, population bases, and ideas have been added since the formation of this nonprofit organization. Stay tuned for future updates and events in our community, as well as surrounding areas.
