The toll trailer travel takes on horses 07/14/2024

Worth a read to remind us what our equine companions do for us.

The toll trailer travel takes on horses A horse isn’t simply standing in a trailer during the trip back to the barn; he’s making constant adjustments to maintain his balance through every curve and acceleration. Throw in dealing with a grumpy companion and you’ve got the makings of a potentially exhausting ride. A tired horse is mor...

Celebrating the bond between humans and horses.

HORSES
First Day of Issue DateL June 17, 2024
First Day of Issue Location: St. Joseph, MO

In the 1944 movie National Velvet, then-12-year-old Elizabeth Taylor played the character Velvet Brown, who won a horse in a raffle and went on to fulfill racing dreams. Classic books such as My Friend Flicka and Misty of Chincoteague — as well as multitudes of more recent ones — also portray the incredible bond between humans and the horses they love.

Not all horses go on to win races and bring fame to their owners. Many live their entire lives simply as beloved companions. And that’s what art director Derry Noyes wanted to capture in the new release of the Horses Forever® stamps.

Did you know:
*In the states that I commonly teach in (AL, GA, FL panhandle), there are 936,000 horses
* there are only 3465 Large Animal Vets in the ENTIRE UNITED STATES.
*By 2030 we will need 40,000 equine veterinarians and 133,000 techs to meet the current demands
*We will need 5,300 equine veterinarians added every year to just stay even
*5 out of 100 students will become equine veterinarians
*50% of them will be out of the profession within 5 years

These numbers are not put down here to frighten you. They are here to inspire you to be prepared in the event that you need to be your horse's first responder and handle the unthinkable until emergency medical intervention.

If you are interested in hosting in these three areas, please call or message me anytime. If you can't host, remember we have classes scattered all over Georgia. Tomorrow I will post all of the classes and their registration links.
