Dr. Moore is an active practice owner and the Ohio director for United Dental Brokers of America. Long overdue but here are the pictures from Just Smiles office tour! Dr. Chahine gave us an office tour, his story on how he got to where he is now, and a presentation on what to do when you're ready to own a practice. He even went into details on what equipments to get first and what not to get too early on when you have a practice. Everyone who attended even got to do a hands-on with a new resin composite that just came out on the market! Needless to say that everyone had a blast! Dr. Chahine will be hosting an event coming spring on endo with his tips and tricks. Be sure to look for an invite within the next few months! Meanwhile, hope everyone has a great winter break!

We had a great evening right before Thanksgiving break. Karen Marshalls (Vero Consulting Co) and Jeff Cormell (Practice Solutions/Bank of America) talked about what to expect post graduation. Did you know that start up and acquisition perform the same? Both have their pros and cons, but on average they have the same success rate. Joshua Scott introduced the top trends in dental marketing today at our DES dinner and learn. Did you know that Facebook is number ONE when it comes to marketing? Each like, comment, and share make a difference. If you'd like to learn more about marketing or owning a practice in general, look out for our upcoming events!

We had a great time learning about estate planning with Bill Root last Wednesday! We had a small group of attendees but got a chance to ask questions and have an intimate discussion. ADVICE: If you don't already, get a will, powers of attorney (both healthcare and financial), and a living will. If you don't know where to go, start with Student Legal Services.

We had our first Transitions Event for the semester last night at King Ave 5! Kristie Boltz gave us great insights about Dentistry and Social Media marketing strategies. We had a great turn out of about 30 members. Our next event is Basic Estate Planning for Young Professionals so stay tuned for details!

Linda Marek, VP of Paragon Management Associates Inc. gave some invaluable information about making a PPO practice work tonight at the Transitions event at Eddie George's!
Some highlights:
- In order to keep your yearly goal on track, break it down into daily goals x days worked per month/year. Missed days of work = lost profits!
- Strive to complete 2/3 of your daily production goals in 1/3 of your time (e.g. If you want to produce $9,000 in a 9 hour work day, you should produce $6,000 in only 3 hours of chair time)
- To maximize profitability and prevent an increased amount of your PPO patients affecting your daily goals, put Power Blocks in your schedule that consist of high production procedures from non-PPO patients
- Keep in mind that the % fee cut you take from being in a PPO comes off the top of your collections! You still have to make overhead - so if your overhead is 70% and your fees are reduced by 20% from your PPO patients, your profit is 10%, not 30%!
