Today, CCS recognizes and honors Juneteenth. Also known as "Freedom Day," this day is a celebration marking the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans on June 19, 1865. Juneteenth is a reminder of our community's shared experiences and the ongoing journey to build equality for everyone.

REMINDER: All schools and administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.

Summer Experience will resume on Thursday, June 20th.

National Men's Health Month is more than just caring for one's physical health. It encompasses mental, emotional and spiritual health.

Join the African American Male Wellness Agency for their Real Men, Real Talk Mental Wellness Summit on July 18th from 6-8 p.m. at East High School. The conversation seeks to create a safe and open space for honest dialogue about mental health.

'We made a promise': City to extend Columbus Promise tuition-free college program With one year left in the program's initial pilot, city leaders committed to extending the Columbus Promise.

In November 2021, Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin proudly introduced Columbus Promise. This three-year pilot program would offer CCS students tuition-free access to Columbus State Community College (CSCC). In 2024, Hardin stood in the CSCC Workforce and Development Center, promising the program would extend beyond those three years.

CCS educators attended a simulated work-based learning workshop as part of Career Tech Forward. The workshop, held with One Columbus, paired teachers with industry partners to develop authentic work-based learning activities for students for the upcoming school year.

As a recent graduate from Northland High School, Docille Micomyiza has overcome the odds to establish himself in the real estate business while working towards earning his degree in higher education from Columbus State.
