Institute Insights: Housing Insecurity and the LGBTQ+ Community
November 14 / 12 noon / Virtual
November 11-18 is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. LGBTQ+ folks are particularly vulnerable to food and housing insecurity and are routinely denied access to resources and even shelter or food aid based on who they are and/or who they love.
In this free webinar, Institute Lead Trainer Ramona Peel (She/They) will chat with Equitas Health Director of Housing Programs Kelsey Strausbaugh, LISW (She/They), and Equitas Health Housing Advocates Adriane Hall (She/Her/Hers) & Morgan Couture (They/Them/Theirs) about these stark inequalities, why they persist, and what organizations are doing (and can do) to help end LGBTQ+ homelessness and food insecurity. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A with audience members.
Michele Battle-Fisher (she/her), Associate Director of Research, published an article “The ‘Next Normal’ of Health Equity: Toward a disparity-free Future during COVID-19” in The Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice. It discusses how the new phrase “the Next Normal” does not sufficiently explain the experience of groups that are marginalized under COVID-19.
If you'd like more information on how to access this article, or you have questions about the work of our Research Team, please reach out to Michele at [email protected].
