A mentor to many and pioneer for us all.

Thank you MG Alexander

Retired Maj. Gen. Richard C. Alexander — who served as both the president (now chairman) and executive director (now president) of NGAUS — died May 18, the Ohio National Guard announced Monday. We extend our condolences to his family and friends.

He was first elected to a two-year term as the association's president and as the head of what was then the Executive Council in 1996. The association’s governing body then selected him for the full-time post of NGAUS president in 1998, a position he held until 2004. Alexander was the adjutant general of Ohio from 1987 to 1998. He was the first Black general officer in the Ohio Guard's history. Alexander began his military career in the Marine Corps in 1955. Ohio National Guard Association Ohio National Guard

NGAUS: advocating to Congress for ZERO-cost TRICARE

“We do not ask a Soldier to purchase a HMMWV or for an Airman to purchase an F-16. We do not require them to go to the range on their own dime, or even for enlisted to purchase their own uniforms. Yet for healthcare, the one thing that ensures they are physically able to deploy, the servicemember is required to purchase their own, out of pocket,” stated Maj. Gen. Frank McGinn (Ret,), NGAUS president.

On Wednesday, Gen. McGinn appeared before a joint hearing of the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs committees to outline the association’s legislative priorities, which include zero-cost TRICARE and dental, Reserve component track for transition assistance, and education benefits parity.
