Dear Athletes,
Your safety, along with the safety of our volunteers, spectators, community and team has and always will be our top priority. This is why, with great regret, we have decided to cancel the 2020 Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon.
With the ongoing pandemic and based on consultation with our valued partners at Nationwide, Nationwide Children's Hospital, and the City of Columbus, it became quite apparent to us that the best way to protect everyone’s safety would be to cancel our event for 2020. It was a very difficult decision to make, but one we strongly believe is in the best interest of everyone involved.
All registered athletes will be notified via email regarding the refund process, and we will not be offering a deferral option for a future year’s race. With the uncertain economic challenges many in our community are facing, we feel it is best to simply do a refund and move forward with a clean slate. We truly believe there’s no way to replace the experience of doing our race in-person, so rather than offering a virtual event, we’ll wait to see you in person at our next event!
Since the Marathon’s combined partnership with Nationwide and Nationwide Children’s, registrants have been able to fundraise on behalf of the hospital as Children’s Champions. Hospital supporters will still have a chance to fundraise for the patients and families the hospital cares for and there will be a future announcement about fundraising activities.
If you have already registered for the 2020 race, please check your email inbox for more information regarding refunds.
This is our race, family. We truly appreciate your continued support and dedication. We look forward to running and walking with you again in the future.
