Last week, Ohio FFA State Officers traveled to Washington, D.C. for the National FFA Organization's State Officer Summit. In D.C., they met the National FFA Officer team and about 300 state officers from across the country. The state officers began preparation to be delegates at the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo this fall and dove deeper into what it looks like to be advocates for agriculture and FFA. In addition, the team also met with Rep. Troy Balderson, Rep. Max Miller, and Rep. Brad Wenstrup. During these meetings they had thoughtful conversations about agriculture policy, the Farm Bill, and the National FFA Organization. Finally, they were able to tour many of the nation's monuments including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial and World War II Memorial. State Officer Summit was a memorable trip that encouraged growth and learning which will be beneficial throughout the year for the team.

Ohio FFA State President, Anna Moeller, was recently presented with a Jeep Gladiator truck from Sunrise Cooperative to drive this year as she is traveling the state visiting chapters and meeting members. In the spring, this same truck will be awarded to a graduating Ohio FFA member who will have been hired by Sunrise Cooperative for a full-time position after high school.

Landon Haney of the Arcanum MVCTC FFA Chapter has been announced as one of four finalists for the American Star in Agribusiness award. Final results will be announced at the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo this fall. Congratulations, Landon!

Nearly 120 agricultural educators are gathered in Wilmington for the annual Ohio Agricultural Education Summer Conference. Thanks for hosting, Wilmington College and Wilmington College Academic Farm!

This year, the Ohio FFA Foundation awarded $33,500 in college scholarships. Congratulations to these FFA members! We wish them the best in their future endeavors.

Because of Farm Credit Mid-America's generous support, the 2023-2024 state officer team traveled thousands of miles to meet with FFA members from across the state. The team led workshops focusing on communication, leadership, time management and other professional skills for students from more than 150 chapters.
