The 2024-2025 National Scholarship opens Wednesday, June 12, 2024! There are 3๏ธโฃ scholarship opportunity deadlines this school year for you to fill out and turn in an application.
Interested? Here are a few criteria to know before you apply.
You must:
โฝ Be a United States citizen
โฝ Be at least 17-years-old
โฝ Have a high school diploma or equivalent (upcoming seniors, this still means you qualify as you're on track to graduate)
โฝ Have an unweighted high school GPA above 2.49
โฝ Take the SAT or ACT prior to applying
โฝ Take the Army Combat Fitness Test
โฝ Agree to serve in the U.S. Army

Today the Beaver Battalion conducted their Espirit de Corps lab for week 10. This is the last lab the battalion had for the school year before our MS3's head off to CST and the MS4's commission! During this time, the battalion had fun playing capture the flag with water balloons and super soakers. Pizza and refreshments were also provided to celebrate the end of the term and school year. Best of luck to everyone in the battalion going into finals and through the next years of the program!
This week's Senior Spotlights are CDT Johnson and CDT Janetsky!
CDT Johnson will be graduating with a bachelor's in Criminal Justice from Western Oregon. Johnson will be commissioned as an Active Duty Military Intelligence officer on June 14th, and was given the opportunity to serve a branch detail in the Chemical Corps. He will be going to FT Leonard Wood in July for CMBOLC. He will report to his first unit in December. He is a dog dad to his three year old Australian Shepherd.
CDT Janetsky will be graduating with a bachelor's of science in Chemistry from Oregon State University. Janetsky will be commissioned as an Active Duty Military chemical officer. He will be going to FT Leonard Wood for CMBOLC. Janetsky likes to skateboard, play basketball and be outdoors, and is looking forward to the new places he will travel to through the Army.
Today the Beaver Battalion conducted the Combat Water Survival Test (CWST) for week 9 lab. This is a test done every year and is a requirement for commission. The test has 3 stations: a 15 meter swim holding a rifle and wearing a FLC, jumping off a 3 meter board blindfolded with a rifle and swimming to safety, and taking their FLC off underwater. Everyone did an amazing job today in completing their test. Great job Battalion and keep up the work for the next two weeks until the term ends and the MS3s go off to camp!
This week's Senior Spotlights are CDT Narvaez, CDT Goldsmith, and CDT Dungey.
CDT Narvaez is a Public Health major and will be going to BOLC in Fort Sam Houston, TX. He is going Active Duty and will be branching Med Service. He enjoys traveling to national parks and sports games, cycle, and spend time with family outside or ROTC.
CDT Goldsmith is a Bio Health Science major and will be going to BOLC in Fort Sam Houston, TX. She is going Active Duty and will be branching Med Service. She enjoys working out, hiking, reading, and taking care of her plants outside of ROTC.
CDT Dungey is a Business Administration major and will be commissioning as an Aviation Officer with the Oregon National Guard. He will be going to BOLC in Fort Novosel, AL. After BOLC he will return to his current unit in Salem to fly as a 15A (Aviation Officer). During his free time he likes waterfowl hunting, running, and camping.
Last night was our annual Awards Ceremony. We were able to acknowledge the many achievements our cadets have accomplished over the past year!!
Congrats to all of our cadets in our program for striving towards excellence and continuing to finish this year strong!!
Last weekend the Beaver Battalion conducted SFTX. During this time they conducted lanes, land nav, and BRM. We partnered with other schools in 8th Brigade to have a successful field event. This was our MS3s last field opportunity before they head to camp this summer and become mentors to next year's MS3s. Great job to everyone who was there and supporting one another!
This week's Senior Spotlights are CDT Collins and CDT Senn!
CDT Collins is a Criminal Justice major at WOU. He enjoys playing video games, swimming, rugby, and hiking outside of ROTC. He is going Active duty branching Signal and will attend BOLC at Fort Eisenhower, GA.
CDT Senn is an Economics major at OSU. He enjoys lifting, golfing, playing pool, and spending time with his younger siblings outside of ROTC. He is going Active duty branching Ordinance and then EOD. He will attend Ordinance and phase 1 EOD BOLC at Fort Gregg Adams, VA and will complete phase 2 of EOD at Eglin Air Force Base, FL.
This week our Senior Spotlight is CDT Carascco! He is currently a Business Management major at OSU. He enjoys running, fishing, hiking, cooking, painting, and reading outside of ROTC. CDT Carascco also loves animals! He will be branching Engineer in the ARNG and go to BOLC in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri.
Today the Beaver Battalion conducted a platoon defense at Camp Najaf. This was the MS3's last chance to practice missions before Spring FTX and heading off to Advanced Camp. The battalion was able to stay resilient with this mission and learned how much needs to go into a defense to be successful. Good job and keep up the work for FTX!
This Monday and Wednesday the Beaver Battalion conducted joint service olympics (JSO) for PT with the Air Force and Navy/Marines ROTC. The competition started off on Monday with Capture the Flag, Speedball, and Kickball. This morning consisted of a relay race and tug-o-war. The battalion competed hard and came on second with the Navy winning overall. Way to go everyone and the hard work that was put in!
This week's Senior Spotlight is CDT Burgett! He will be branching Infantry in the ARNG and will complete IBOLC in Fort Moore GA. Burgett enjoys playing sports, building/shooting guns, hiking, and being outdoors on his free time. He is currently majoring in IDS (interdisciplinary studies) at WOU. Keep up the great work!
This morning the Beaver Battalion conducted the Joint Service Review (JSR) at the MU Quad. Every year the Beaver Battalion is joined with Navy/Marine and Air Force ROTC since 1916. Attending todayโs ceremony is United States Marine Corps Colonel (Retired) Morgan Mann. All of the cadets were able to successfully complete JSR after practicing every morning during the week leading up. Great work Beaver Battalion!
Today the Beaver Battalion conducted a platoon attack at camp Najaf. During this time the MS3s, 2s, and 1s were able to remain resilient through their missions. The MS2s and 1s were able to take control when their leadership no longer could. Way to go for all the hard work in this lab to get ready for Spring FTX!
Throughout the term our Color Guard team has been participating in events. They have been going the extra mile doing these events outside of their normal duties. Way to go Color Guard!
This week our Senior Spotlights are CDT Martin and CDT Amato!
CDT Martin is branching AG into the ARNG going to BOLC in Fort Jackson SC. She is majoring in Psychology and will be pursuing a Master's in Social Work in the fall of 2024. CDT Martin enjoys hiking and exploring.
CDT Amato is branching ADA for Active duty and will go to BOLC in Fort Sill OK. He enjoys reading and running in his free time.
Our Cadet of the Week is CDT Farrior! She is majoring in Biology/Pre Med at WOU. Some of her hobbies include shooting, fishing, and gardening. CDT Farrior plans to go into the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) upon commissioning and the branch into Med Services. CDT Farrior has been putting in a ton of work and care at WOU acting as the 1SG and was recognized for this at lab! Keep up the great work!

Our team finished 30th out of 48 teams and 9th for all ROTC teams! We're super proud of their grit, teamwork, and leadership throughout. They represented our program, Brigade, and University with class and demonstrated a relentless competitive spirit. Congratulations! GO BEAVS!
