Severe weather can happen anytime, in any part of the country. Hazardous conditions are caused by thunderstorms, including damaging winds, tornadoes, large hail, flooding and flash flooding, and winter storms associated with freezing rain, sleet, snow and strong winds.

Water continues to rise on 53rd Street in Corvallis. We continue to urge drivers not to attempt to cross the flooded roadway. Doing so may cost you your life; if you survive, it will cost you a fine of $249.00 for ORS 811.265 - Fail to Obey a Traffic Control Device (the road closed sign you drive around) and/or $440.00 for Careless Driving - ORS 811.135.

This effort brings together schools, the Benton County Health Department, community organizations, youth representatives, and others to plan su***de prevention for people at risk in our county aged 0-24. Meetings are held virtually on the 3rd Tuesday of every month and are open to the community.

In 2003, Benton County brought CERT to our community. The Benton County CERT program has led the way for individual preparedness education throughout our county for 20 years. The program provides safe, positive and inclusive opportunities and training for people of all abilities.

If you are feeling ambitious, we are taking applications for our upcoming training. We will have a waitlist available when full. The training will be held Dec. 8 - 10, 2023.
