Congrats to 2024 HC graduate Melanie Meador ๐ŸŽ“๐ŸŽ‰ Melanie earned an H.B.S in animal sciences with a minor in chemistry and completed her thesis, โ€œFeeding spent h**p biomass does not negatively affect fertility in ram lambsโ€ under the mentorship of Dr. Michelle Kutzler, a professor of animal and rangeland sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences. After graduation, Melanie will be attending OSU's Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

Western Video Market, Inc. is offering a unique opportunity to an individual with an interest in agriculture and livestock marketing. This is a summer internship position and will be an opportunity for a motivated individual to gain experience with the second largest video sale company in the country.

Western Video Market, Inc. is the second-largest livestock video auction company in the United States, and markets more than 350,000 head of cattle and lambs per year to a national buyer base. Founded in 1989, the company hosts 12 sales throughout the year featuring consignments from throughout the western United States.

Duties and Expectations
This is an entry level position for someone who is interested in gaining work experience in a fast-paced auction environment. This person serves in a support role for critical office functions, including, but not limited to:
โ€ข Video sale contract entry (days vary depending on consignment deadlines; refer to WVM sale schedule. Report to WVM Operations Manager or WVM office staff for direction).
โ€ข Catalog entry corrections/changes (sales with print catalogs are extremely time sensitive; time may be required outside of normal office hours). A high degree of accuracy is expected.
โ€ข Video sale clerking and support (report to WVM Operations Manager, Controller or WVM staff for direction).
โ€ข Assisting with various sale production tasks that can vary widely from sale to sale, and may include some travel.
โ€ข May be asked to assist with answering phones and help serve as the first point of contact for anyone calling the office. Professionalism and customer service are important skills to possess. Will need to gain knowledge of basic company operations to answer general questions and inquiries, and will be responsible for determining the best person to direct all other calls to ensure a positive customer service experience.
โ€ข All other duties as assigned.
โ€ข As expertise is gained in company operations, a successful candidate will have an opportunity to grow into other responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements
โ€ข Major in agriculture, animal science, ag business, accounting or ag communications. Interest in livestock marketing a plus.
โ€ข Individual pursuing this position must understand the importance of being a team player in a tight-knit office environment and have good interpersonal skills.
โ€ข Be self-motivated, willing to learn, demonstrate conscientious effort towards oneโ€™s work and be focused on customer service.
โ€ข Applicant should be proficient in basic Microsoft applications (Word, Excel). Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Compensation
TBD based on experience. This is an entry level position.

Supervisor
This position reports to the Video Operations Manager and Controller, and will receive direction and training from WVM staff. This position is based out of the companyโ€™s Cottonwood office, and does not allow for telecommuting.
