Our Story
Khmer students have been on Oregon Stateās campus for many years prior to the official establishment of the Cambodian Student Association in 1984. During the waves of immigration from war-torn Cambodia, students at Oregon State began CSA with the initial mission of āintegratingā new students to the new culture, city, and school around them. With so much trauma and sadness carried from overseas, students fought in a new world based around academics, striving to be successful students and leave their mark at Oregon State. The Cambodian Student Association has gone through several generations of Oregon State students from all walks of life -but all are united with a similar purpose: Bringing students together to learn about Khmer culture. We are the Cambodian Student Association, a group of culture, heritage, and history.
Established in 1984, the Cambodian Student Association is a student-led organization with a mission to preserve and increase unity, pride, and awareness of Khmer culture, history, and traditions to Khmer and non-Khmer students at Oregon State University as well as the community. CSA@OSU strives to foster cross-cultural bridges and diversity in the community; to promote higher education among Cambodian students and to assist new students in adapting to University life.
