SMU Cox Assistant Professor Jane Tan was intrigued by the Ukrainian government's groundbreaking use of cryptocurrency during a critical moment—Russia's attack. This initiative represented one of the first uses of blockchain technology for real-world fundraising. Tan and co-author Yong Tan of the University of Washington investigated the use of cryptocurrency incentives in this unique context. Their research identified significant differences in fundraising trends between ‌Bitcoin and Ethereum, and offers four recommendations for designing successful future campaigns.

The Cox School hosted the dynamic third annual Subiendo Academy at SMU from June 23-27. Thirty rising high school seniors from 24 local schools immersed themselves in the college experience. They explored Toyota and Keurig Dr Pepper headquarters, presented business cases to Toyota judges, and connected with SMU alumni. The event concluded with a celebratory ceremony where Cox's Olivia Trevino and CFP's Clayton Crum Harkness presented certificates.

Thanks to Sylvie and Gary Crum and the CFP Foundation, Subiendo Academy empowers students to soar in academics and leadership. Subiendo means "rising" in Spanish, and these students are definitely on their way up!
