The planting beds in Civic Garden were replenished this fall with 795 perennials including Turk’s Cap, Fall Aster, Shrubby Boneset – all drought tolerant and providing food for butterflies and hummingbirds. Hey, park-goers. The interactive fountain at Harwood Park will be temporarily closed for repair from Monday, November 13, through the end of this year, with plans to reopen in early 2024.

This repair involves removing and replacing the concrete to improve drainage and extend the fountain’s longevity and functionality long-term. The fountain will be fenced off for the duration of the work. The rest of the park remains open to the public.

Our team at the Downtown Dallas Parks Conservancy, along with our contractor, is dedicated to creating top-notch public spaces. We appreciate your patience and continued support of Harwood Park!

It is with a heavy heart, we share that artist Robert Irwin passed away on October 25 at the age of 95. Irwin's artistic vision lives on in Dallas through his permanent art installation in Carpenter Park. Watch "The Portal and the Park" to learn more about this piece of Dallas public art by Robert Irwin.

"Irwin made innovations across painting, sculpture, and installation-based work over the course of nearly seven decades, expanding the contours of the canon and continually pushing the limits of what art can be...The artist gave up his studio in 1969, departing entirely from traditional modes of making to embark on a decades-long investigation into the relationships between light, space, and perception. In this pursuit, he took up what he termed a “conditional art,” growing his practice of making installation-based works into the broader field of architecture." - Remembering Robert Irwin, Pace Gallery
