It's National Homelessness Awareness Month, and there's a harsh reality we want to share that our children are facing.

Did you know that 4.2 million youth and young adults will experience homelessness this year?

Imagine facing constant stress, food insecurity, and the social stigma of not having a stable home. These struggles impact mental health, often overshadowing the capacity to experience joy and positivity.

We exist to change that. We believe that joy is possible, even in tough times. We celebrate children and youth, ages 1-21, in foster care, youth shelters, and transitional housing, ensuring they feel valued and celebrated. Everyone deserves a reason to smile. 🎉

We love giving our kids something memorable to take with them, so they can hold onto the fun memories of their birthday celebrations. While most people think about wearing costumes in October, Manuel dresses in costume every month for our parties! We are proud to spotlight our dedicated SafeHaven Birthday Enthusiast! 🧡

Manuel has been a Birthday Enthusiasts for 8 years now, and each month he shows up dressed as a fun character to celebrate the kids! 🎭🎉 These small gestures make a big difference, bringing so much JOY to the kids and everyone around them. Kids often ask him "what are you going to dress up as next month?" We are beyond grateful for Manuel and the incredible energy he brings to every party! 🙌✨

🌍 Today, we're shining a light on World Homelessness Day and spreading awareness about homelessness in the United States 🚨

Did you know that homelessness is on the rise? Here are a few things we learned about homelessness recently:

🧡 An estimated 4.2 million youth and young adults experience homelessness each year in the U.S., with 700,000 minors (under 18) being unaccompanied.

🧡 Without the stability of a home, children can experience "fight or flight" mode, often feeling anxious and irritable due to their ever changing environments.

🧡 Children need connectivity and consistency to thrive. For children facing instability, it's more difficult for their body to settle down and feel safe, so kids often shut down, retreat, and hold in their emotions which can lead to depression and self harm.
Youth experiencing homelessness deserve our attention and care-they are the future of our country and should be given the chance to thrive! 🧡

Today we wanted to shout out Steve, our incredible UPS delivery driver, whose birthday we celebrated last weekend! We count on Steve to help us deliver gifts and party supplies around the country every month, and couldn't host meaningful celebrations without his dedication and the amazing service that provides 🎉🎂 Join us in celebrating him for all his hard work! 🎈 Happy Birthday, Steve! 🧡

The Best Costume is Kindness! 🎭 Whether you're dressing up in your spookiest outfit or just looking to make a difference, we’ve got simple yet impactful ways you can spread joy and celebrate kindness while getting into the trick-or-treat spirit! When you share a smile, hold open a door for someone, or simply say "good morning" to those around you, you're leaving treats for others to enjoy! 🎉

🎉 Birthday Enthusiast Spotlight! 🎉

This summer, Tanner (10) and his older brother Tucker (12) put together a 325 goody bags to give out at our parties! 🛍️ They collected donations and did yard work for neighbors and family to earn money to buy toys for the favor bags. The brothers set up an assembly line and worked side by side to create the bags. As a personal touch, they also added handmade bracelets to each bag!

We’re incredibly grateful for their thoughtful gifts! 🎁

We partner with agencies all over Dallas and host the largest number of our parties here, providing birthday celebrations for kids every month that help us build relationships with them over time. Our Birthday Enthusiasts in North Texas show up for our kids in Dallas, and around the country.
