IS THAT A NEEDLE IN THERE? Why yes it is. This is a classic technique called “needle cupping”. An acupuncture needle is placed in a point and then a cup is placed over the cup. The combined action of the two helps quantify benefits! The result is reduced swelling, improved circulation, increased mobility, and pain relief. Come try it out today!

WHAT IS THAT?! This is a technique called wet cupping or blood cupping. It is a great technique to break up stagnation and remove excess heat. The amount of blood that is extracted helps promote circulation, relieves tension, and promotes cellular regeneration. Try it out. You’ll be surprised at how relaxing this can be!

I tell a lot of patients that the whole point of taking care of our health is to do the things we love. Why shouldn’t we have enough energy to play with our kids? Why should a vacation be paused due to a migraine? Why should we let our aches and pains stop us from being active?
None of these things need to happen. Let’s take care of ourselves. Doing what we want to do and feeling joy when we do it is how you know you are thriving and not just surviving!

To your health my friends!

How are you feeling today? This is a question that we often overlook or automatically answer as “Fine.” But our emotions are powerful and can very much affect our mental and physical health. We are often taught that we are not supposed to show certain emotions. We are not allowed to display that we are happy or angry or sad. These feelings are supposed to be bottled up inside and we are just supposed to deal with them on our own. But emotions are meant to be felt and displayed. And there are always appropriate and healthy ways to express them.

In TCM, emotions are as real and as integrated as any other body system. They are always considered during diagnosis and are an integral part of our health. Stuck emotions are another form of stagnation that can cause disease in the body. Acupuncture and herbal formulas can help us process and balance our emotions for our mental and physical health.

Wow! You look so bright and vibrant! If someone has ever given you this compliment, it is because you are. In Chinese medicine there is the concept of our “Jing” (精). Our Jing is our spirit, or our essence. It is the spring of our vitality and the root of our qi. When our Jing is healthy within us, it shows outwardly in the brightness of our face, the tone of our skin, in our smiles, and how we walk and carry ourselves. So, a bright and vibrant Jing leads to a bright and vibrant person!

Acupuncture and Traditional herbal medicine treats the whole body, including the mind, spirit and Jing. It refreshes our energy, replenishes our reserves, and helps us be our best. My goal is always to help my patients achieve their greatest levels of health.

Feeling exhausted? Having a hard time focusing? Feel tired, but can’t fall asleep? Coffee not working anymore? If any of these things are happening to you, then you are at risk of burning out. Also called adrenal fatigue, constantly exposing yourself to stress is severely taxing your system and affecting your mood, energy levels, digestion, and sleep. This can continue until your system collapses and you are completely burned out. Take a break. Take a step back. Give yourself a moment to process and heal from everything your body is going through.

Acupuncture is an amazing way to reset the system. The stimulation of acupuncture points sparks the parasympathetic nervous system, reduces inflammation, helps the body rest and digest, and most importantly, RELIEVES STRESS!

Book your appointment today to take a rest, reset and come back stronger than before!

We are very much in a culture that promotes sacrifice for success.  And so we put others before ourselves, trade our own time to meet deadlines, and relinquish our goals for the goals of the group.  While that can be necessary at times, to have that as the norm is not sustainable.  If we all work to the point that we are broken, who is around to finish the work?  Who is there to meet those goals and deadlines?

The truth is, self-care inevitably becomes care for all.  Taking a step back and giving yourself some healing space can refresh your entire system.  With a little rest, we can come back with a clearer mind, more energy, more focus, and be ready to take on all of those daunting tasks.

Come in for an acupuncture treatment.  The treatment can instantly activate your parasympathetic nervous system also known as your “rest and digest” system.  When that is activated, massive amounts of healing in your body occur.   An acupuncture treatment can help you relax, refocus your mind, sleep and digest better, and re-energize you to accomplish your goals.

Can acupuncture help Low Back Pain?  Low back pain is the #1 reason why people visit an acupuncturist.  Acupuncture can give quick and lasting relief from back pain.  During an acupuncture session, your natural pain-killing hormones (endorphins and enkephalins) are released to help you feel less pain, release muscle tension, and increase mobility.  When paired with electric stimulation or cupping, acupuncture is an amazing tool to help you manage your low back pain.   Whatever the source of your low back pain, from pulled or spasmed muscles, slipped discs, or nerve impingement, acupuncture can help relieve the pain, relax the muscles and release pinched nerves.

Don’t worry, I got your back

Who doesn’t love good food?! Start your year off right with some healthy food habits. Here are a couple of easy tips to help you make some delicious and nutritious choices:

Pick meals with a variety of colors. The more colors your meal has, the more variety of foods, nutrients, and flavor you will be eating. This is one of the easiest ways to tell you have a balanced diet.

The closer you are to your food, the healthier it is. Cooking at home is the best but if you can’t do that, some of the local restaurants serving high quality, delicious meals can be a good alternative.

Like the food you see? Check out Yahya’s Mediterranean Grill and Pastries in the City Park West neighborhood. I’m a huge fan of Mediterranean food and this place has some of the best I’ve ever had! Super unique flavors while the food is light and tasty. Check them out on FB and IG .

I would also like to thank Kevin Bui for filming and editing such an awesome video. I always have a lot of fun making videos with this talented young man, and I can’t wait to work with him in the future. For your photography and video needs, check him out on FB and IG .

For the holidays, a love patient couple of mine got me legos! What a wonderful gift to take up some of the down time that occurs in these winter months. I am so excited and thankful. Putting this set together is going to be a lot of fun!

12/24/2021

Happy holidays!  I am wishing everyone a joyous holiday where you can relax, rejuvenate, and rejoice.  May you all be blessed with good health, good friends, and lots of good food.  And don’t forget… BE NICE! 😆

12/17/2021

With the holidays coming up, I hope that all of you have a chance to take a break from your daily lives. Getting adequate rest is an integral part to maintaining good health. But unfortunately, it is often the most common thing we sacrifice. It is easy to stay up late to get some extra work in, or sleep only 4 or 5 hours to make it to the gym. These habits over a prolonged period of time will start to negatively affect our bodies and take away any benefits gained from working so hard.

Rest and sleep is when our minds absorb what we have learned for the day. It is also when our bodies rebuild and repair our muscles (working out breaks muscle, rest and sleep BUILD MUSCLE!) Rest is the quiet yin to our active yang activities like work, exercise, and pursuit. Without yin, yang cannot grow. Putting down your work for a moment can often clear your mind to find solutions to problems you are working on. And 1, even 2, days away from the gym won’t undo the progress you have done. In any situation, if you feel like you need to take a knee, than it is okay to take a knee.

Acupuncture can help our bodies enter a parasympathetic state and activate the “rest and digest” process. When we have difficulty sleeping and quitting the mind, acupuncture can help our bodies enter homeostasis to relax the mind, muscles, and organs.

So with upcoming holiday breaks, I wish you all a joyous time with your families and loved ones and a chance to take a break for yourself.

Book now and take a moment to relax!

One Year: It has been one year since I opened my practice, and what a year it has been!  This year we have had to deal with the pandemic (still), economic fallout from the pandemic, wildfires, and crazy weather patterns.  All of this has been piled on top of the norm of our daily lives changing with work-from-home stresses and kids homeschooling.  I’ve learned a lot this past year.  I feel incredibly fortunate that through it all, I am still operating, helping people, and doing what I love.  When I get to practice acupuncture, it is hard to call it work.  If I have seen you in my clinic for any treatment then I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I am nothing without my patients.  I say this a lot, but when a person chooses me to help them with their health and personal story, I’m very honored and incredibly humbled by the opportunity.

My goals for the next year are to grow my practice, help more people, and expand what I can offer in my clinic.  All things with due work and due time.  I do like where I am going and I appreciate where I have been.  I think I would like to keep moving forward.  Here’s to the upcoming year!  Cheers!

I would love to hear your story!  Contact me @ www.myacupuncturistjason.com

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? This is called salt moxa. It is a very ancient technique where salt is placed in the belly button and moxa is then burned on top of the salt. The salt directs the energy from the moxa to the kidneys boosting up Yin, Yang, and our Essence. It is a very relaxing and powerful treatment that could give you a huge boost to your energy!

Curious? Want to try? Then contact Jason @ www.myacupuncturistjason.com

Shoulder Pain: I have been treating a lot of people with shoulder pain lately.  There are lots of large muscle groups that support and affect the shoulder.  Physical activity like pulling or lifting things overhead can cause pain, but you would be surprised at how much pain can be caused from just sitting at a desk.

The acupuncture needles are the perfect tool to get into those tight spaces in your shoulder joint as well as those pesky knots deep in your muscles to cause a good tension release and relieve that shoulder pain.  Couple that with some cupping, gua sha, or moxa and your shoulder will start to feel as right as rain. 😃

If you have been sitting at a desk for hours at a time, constantly using your arms and shoulders, or have been dealing with chronic shoulder pain for years, come on in for some relief.  I’ll examine your shoulder, find the source of the problem, and get you some relief.

To give your shoulders a break contact Jason @ www.myacupuncturistjason.com
