Duluth Harbor Mission Inc.
We are a safe, uplifting Christ centered shelter, helping homeless souls and God's poor, today. We believe in recovery first over housing first.
We have a Christ centered approach to helping people who are experiencing homelessness, drug addiction, domestic abuse, s*x trafficking & poverty. We are a low-barrier shelter which means there are minimal requirements to enter and stay in our day center.
Reminder! Our gathering to glean into God's Word starts tomorrow morning, Tuesday July 23rd, at 9:30 a.m. at Harrison Community Center, 3002 W. 3rd Street Duluth. Come a bit early to fill your coffee cup, grab your Johnson's Bakery treat and find your seat! Childcare is available!

Hi friends this is Veronica, Founder and Director of Duluth Harbor Mission. Founder! Yes. Many do not know that. You see I am the parent of boy, who during our journey became a man, who is my son, and was addicted to m**h for 22 years. And when I realized I couldn't do a darn thing to help my son but felt the need to do SOMETHING, I answered a call God put on my life years before and opened Duluth Harbor Rescue Mission, in Lincoln Park. "If I can't help my son I'll help someone elses" was my thought. Anyway. All I really want to say is I get it. I get the daily uncertainty wondering if they are still alive. I get the torment of deciding what to do or not do for him. I get the deep sadness that comes with thinking your the only person feeling so lost and no one really wants to hear you anymore. And there is so much more I get. With that being said, som**hing I don't say it enough is I'm here for you mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, sister, brother. If you need an ear I would love to pay attention to you. Connect with me at [email protected] or, 218-481-7400 M-F Business hours. Let's talk. I want to encourage you!
Big hugs for now.
Veronica ๐
"Jesus made our mission abundantly clear in meeting the needs of the forgotten, unlovely, and unpopular-"the least of these." His declaration that to serve them is to serve Him is both countercultural and life-changing."-Randy Frazee

SAD NEWS. Due to heavy construction directly our door and on this entire block Duluth Harbor Mission will be closed the rest of this week July 17, 18, 19. The sidewalk is closed. Do not attempt to come visit or bring donations. There also is no place to park. We thank you for your patience.
GOOD NEWS. The temporary inconvenience is a blessing! We will have new water pipes and no longer have to be concerned about the lead in the old pipes. We have been using a filter system for some time which has done us well.
OFFICE OPEN. We will be in office during our regular hours so please call if the need arises. 218-481-7400
Starting Tuesday July 23, we will host a community Bible Study but start with the ladies for the first seven weeks.
Ladies come join us for a precious time in God's Word. From the back of our study guide we see a peek of the topic, Jesus and Women; encouragement from the lips of Jesus surely comforted a hurting woman's soul thousands of years ago. Join us as we go back to Jesus` first century world, explaining the historical and cultural climate of His day to help you know Him more dearly. This is a 7-session study that starts in the Old Testament and ends in the New Testament. We will meet at Harrison Community Center 3002 W. 3rd Street, just one door away from Duluth Harbor Mission. Our time together begins at 9:30 a.m. and goes to 11:30. Light refreshments will be on hand. If you have a prompting to know Jesus better, this is for you! Can't wait to see you!

Matthew 7:24-25 24 โTherefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock."-Jesus
MYTH: To solve homelessness, all we have to do is arrest everyone who is homeless.
FACT: We cannot arrest our way out of homelessness.
Many cities have tried to eliminate homelessness using incarceration, but this has never worked for two reasons. First, judges and jails generally release people in just a few hours. And second, very seldom are treatment services available in jails for people experiencing homelessness. See more about this topic through our Director's Desk in our e-newsletter delivery on 6-28-24.

We are excited!
Such an encouraging message left in our prayer box. Against all odds, there is Jesus, was the theme of a conference I went to last week and against all odds, people are touched by God through missions throughout the U.S. We join this person in saying, we love you, Lord, thank you for another day at Duluth Harbor Mission!
A very happy, hard working crew! ๐ช Team work carried 9000 bottles in and down the stairs within a half hour
Unable to post all the videos of today at one time.
This was the beginning of the day. Five trucks were loaded.
Jaime Lehti Wosmek Jaime's Daycare! Another year and the best yet! 9000 bottles of water donated today from Jaime and her Daycare families! We had 1 case of water left from last years delivery so talk about timing. We are greatful for all the help today. The entire process from loading to last case stored, took an hour. Many hands make light work says the Bible. Today was a testimony to that!

3. Prayers for your husband.
4. Ways to pray for people in authority.

Warning. This is long.
The team of people it takes to manage a ministry like Duluth Harbor Mission and the hundreds of other missions around our Nation, is a very special, called, group of people. Within a 5 minute span of time we can experience a man actively high, a lady crying out for help out of a domestic situation, a person angry because their belongings were stolen, a scared timid couple, experiencing homelessness wondering if we can be trusted, a phone ringing, a donation coming in the door, and a person needing prayer, or a person ready to go to tratment.. Its mind blowing and only God keeps our minds sound through it all. There are 10,000 stories to be told of 10,000 different situations. And many of the situations end in chaos to say the least of there isn't an intervention of some sort, soon. Why do we do what we do?
Perhaps a calling we couldn't help but to respond to. Perhaps it's an emotional response that stems from our own personal experiences which leads us to have to share, do. not. loose. hope. you can get through this! Perhaps it's the exposure to pain and agony and seeing people at their rock bottom, knowing that if just for today this person feels validated it could be the beginning of a new life! There are so many reasons why each member of our team puts themselves out there every week, most of them have been here for years! I don't know each person's personal reason why they choose to spend their time volunteering here but I do know that each one of us trusts Jesus. We trust His power. We trust His promises. We trust His Way. And because of that we must share Him with the world. The image here is a beautiful gift we received this week from the uncle of one of our volunteers. There were about 50 in all and have been distributed this week with meals. This week was our busiest week since we opened. Why? Who knows. All we know for sure is we are all here for very personal reasons sharing a truth that Jesus can be trusted to help in a dire situation. And that's a good reason to return and press on. I often get asked..well how many have come to salvation? And then I hear, well you are not relevant if salvations are not taking place. I disagree. We are relevant because on any given day when that broken soul contemplates su***de and remembers they have a safe place where love is poured out along with reason, they come here instead. It's happened so many times! So. We are content in that. We will never know this side of heaven what roll we played in the salvation of souls. That's God's business. The Holy Spirits business. Our call is to pray, love, help with a great need; food, clothing and shelter, and help people see through our own experiences, that trusting Jesus really does work.
Plan ahead! Save the date! Put it on the fridge! Next message from Pastor Phil is June 13th 3:00 p.m. here at D.H.M.
