This year’s capstone event will feature MPWW alumni, teachers, mentors, family, and some special guests who will read powerful poetry, fiction, and essays written by our incredible students. It’s our biggest and much-beloved event of the year! It is a free, in-person event and will also be made available via livestream.

Oceti Sakowin Community Academy is seeking to hire a full-time Lakota Language Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. 🏫🪶 Starting date is August 12th!
The Oceti Sakowin Community Academy (OSCA) is an Indigenous-led education that centers Lakota language, culture, values, and lifeways for students in kindergarten through second grade.
✊🏽 When you join the OSCA team, you are welcomed into a community of dedication, mission-driven, and enthusiastic educators working together to improve academic achievement for Indigenous students by developing and implementing an Indigenized curriculum.
We encourage teachers to work together and have the autonomy to develop lessons that implement the Oceti Sakowin essential understandings across all academic disciplines. The curriculum will feature decolonized pedagogies, land-based learning models, student-centered learning, traditional healing informed lessons, classroom management practices involving restorative justice, and the woope sakowin. 🖤❤️💛🤍

Anton Treuer will talk about his newest book, Where Wolves Don't Die, at the Duluth Depot Theatre this Sunday, July 14 at 4 p.m. Joining him in conversation is Tashia Hart.
Where Wolves Don't Die is a young adult thriller "about one Ojibwe boy learning to love himself through the love of his family around him."
The event is free to the public, and the theatre is located on the lower side of the downtown Duluth Public Library.
AICHO is co-hosting this event with the Zenith Bookstore. The Indigenous First: Art & Gift Shop will be tabling at the event.

Mending the Sacred Hoop will be hosting a sewing circle on Wednesday, July 24 between 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Dr. Robert Powless Cultural Center. This event is meant to be a healing and cultural activity for our relatives affected by domestic violence and sexual violence. Mending the Sacred Hoop will be providing free supplies for ribbon skirt and apron making. Feel free to bring your own project. Registration is required and space is limited to 8-10 people.
