Bravo Company, 2-501 General Support Aviation Battalion, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss demonstrated a maintenance show of force by launching eight CH-47’s on their inaugural “elephant walk.”

During an elephant walk, Chinooks demonstrate their ability to rapidly deploy, transport troops, and carry heavy cargo. It’s not just for show; it’s a strategic drill that emphasizes the unit’s preparedness for real-world missions. The unit’s daytime mission focused on a multi-ship time-on-target mission followed by split Landing Zone missions, sling load operations and Degraded Visual Environment landings.

As the guardians of the sky, the CAB is committed to staying ready, lethal, and ensuring our forces have air support when it matters most.

This week the Black Knights conducted a 8xCH47F “Elephant Walk” as a display of maintenance combat power. This mission was made successful thanks to a full company effort to ensure the health of our fleet and the pride our Flight Engineers and Crew Chiefs take in their aircraft!

Red rock! Bravo Company 2-501 GSAB ‘Black Knights’ participated in movement of Soldiers and equipment to and from Sedona, AZ over the weekend in order to help repair broken aircraft at the airport. Great work team!

This week members of Bravo Company ‘Black Knights’ and Delta Company ‘Dragon Slayers’ had the unique opportunity to visit the Boeing Factory up in Philadelphia, PA. Our team was able to ask the engineers of the mighty CH47F questions about the aircraft and learn about future modifications coming to the fleet. During this time the Boeing team presented our 3rd flight platoon sergeant and flight engineer SSG Jose Borda a certificate and pin for surpassing 1,000 flight hours in the Chinook. Light Weight!

The story continues! Congratulations to our three newest CW3s in the Black Knights! On Friday CW3 Ray Richardson, CW3 Brent Callari, and CW3 Brian Solecki were all promoted to the rank of CW3 by LTC Powell on top of a pinnacle within the Fort Bliss training area. As newly minted CW3s the trio have become field grade officers for the Army. They will be charged with solving complex problems, building teams, and developing the next generation of leaders to come! Congratulations gentlemen we are proud of you!

This Thursday we were able to recognize CPT Joseph Gutoske our former 1st flight platoon leader. CPT Gutoske was a member of the Black Knights for the past two and a half years and now currently serves as the assistant S3 for 2-501 GSAB. We wanted to take a moment to thank CPT Gutoske for all of his contributions to the Black Knights. The Soldiers, Warrant Officers, and Officers of Bravo Company are thankful for everything you have done and continue to do for the Battalion. Light Weight!!
