We pay tribute to Patrol Inspector Ivan E. Scotten, who was shot and killed by smugglers while patrolling near the Rio Grande River.
His sacrifice will always be remembered with gratitude and respect.

Bi-national Coordination Collaboration!
El Paso Sector BP Agents w/Office of Field Operations apprehended a Mexican national wanted for sexual assault of a minor in Ciudad Juarez. The subject was repatriated and taken into custody by Mexican Officials.

Joint Rescue Effort!
Lordsburg BP Agents collaborated w/ AMO to rescue migrants in medical distress that had depleted their water supply while traversing rugged terrain. Migrants were extracted off the mountain safely.

Building bridges, securing borders: Through open communication with journalists, media is our bridge to connect with the people. We educate and inform them about our mission, we foster understanding and collaboration. Strengthening our communities and nation.

Collaboration in action! Air & Marine Operations detected a potential smuggling operation in the Santa Teresa AOR. Texas DPS and Santa Teresa BP Agents deployed and successfully disrupted the scheme, resulting in 6 migrant apprehensions.

During the hottest months of the year, BP Agents quickly assess heat-related illnesses when encountering people trying to traverse this harsh landscape. As summer heat rises to deadly levels, smugglers continue to recklessly exploit vulnerable people for profit.

Our agents are working tirelessly to save lives, but the best way to stay safe is to not attempt an illegal crossing.

El Paso Sector Special Operations Agents and K9s were deployed to Ruidoso last week to support FEMA’s fire recovery operations, including conducting search and rescue missions through damaged and destroyed structures. Our thoughts are with the Ruidoso community during this challenging time. We stand with you, New Mexico!

El Paso Sector BP Agents apprehended 3 Guatemalan nationals with outstanding warrants for aggravated r**e, domestic violence, and illegal possession of a firearm in their country. Thanks to binational efforts, agents were able to track these migrants’ criminal histories and have them repatriated and taken into custody by Guatemalan officials.

A Las Cruces BP Agent deployed a vehicle immobilization device (VID) at a checkpoint and 6 migrants were apprehended including a foot guide. The VID is an asset to disable fleeing vehicles and prevent dangerous pursuits.

Border Patrol’s BORSTAR Unit provided training to Mexico’s Secretaría de Seguridad Pública Municipal Officers in first aid, fentanyl response, and combat techniques. This binational training enhances skills and knowledge, strengthening our border security commitment.

Mexican national wanted for homicide repatriated!
Santa Teresa BP Agents apprehended a Mexican national with an active warrant for homicide. The subject was repatriated and taken into custody by Mexican Officials. Thanks to binational coordination efforts, this criminal has been prevented from entering our communities!

The U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector's G.E.A.R. Program joined forces with local law enforcement agencies to represent at this year’s Safety Town Event. These classes inform the youth about important topics such as stranger danger, drug awareness, fire and bike safety, and drowning prevention.

El Paso BP Agents successfully rescued two migrants from the treacherous canal utilizing rescue ropes. This is another example of the dangers migrants face when placing their lives in the hands of criminal organizations.

Smugglers Sentenced! In a joint effort between Santa Teresa Agents and HSI, two smugglers have been sentenced for their involvement in a failed smuggling attempt resulting in the death of a migrant. Both individuals received cumulative sentences of 36 months and 10 years, respectively.

Santa Teresa & Deming BP agents arrested and prosecuted migrants from Ecuador & Mexico, one convicted in New York for r**e of a minor under 15 & the other in Florida, for misdemeanor sexual assault of a minor.

32 MIGRANT RUTHLESS SMUGGLING SCHEME! Las Cruces BP Agents disrupted a Mexican national attempting to smuggle 32 migrants stowed in a box truck at a USBP Checkpoint. 🚨 Triple-digit temperatures are here! 🚨 Several emergencies involving heat-related illnesses occurred over the weekend. Tragically, agents encountered four migrants who had died from heat stroke and dehydration. Our agents are prepared with advanced technology and specialized search and rescue teams, but people need to seriously consider the severe risks of crossing in extreme heat under the treacherous conditions of the desert, including death. BP agents work tirelessly to save lives, but the safest option is not to attempt the crossing.
