Back again this Thursday! Please share with anyone in your circle who is food insecure.
Lots of family food boxes are still available as of 10:30 am today! Pass the word!
If you or someone you know is food insecure, kick off the New Year with some healthy family food boxes from Tarrant Area Food Bank. Starts at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, and ends when the last box is distributed, which is often before 11 a.m.
The holidays see many families short of food, so please share this food distribution for Thursday, Dec. 14, with anyone you know who is food insecure and could use some great Tarrant Area Food Bank food boxes. Starts at 10 a.m., but food is often gone by 11, so don't delay!
Our monthly Tarrant Area Food Bank mobile food distribution is this Thursday, Nov. 9. Please share with anyone in your circle who is food insecure. We start promptly at 10 a.m. and run until all the food is gone.
Please join us on Thursday, Oct. 12, for our monthly Tarrant Area Food Bank mobile distribution. Share this information with anyone you know who is food insecure. It starts no later than 10 a.m., and we're often out of food by 11 a.m. You don't want to miss out!
Governor Greg Abbott has declared this “Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.” He encourages adults to rise above their circumstances and take advantage of adult education programs across our state and encourage young people to stay in school.
Do you know any adults who need:
- A High School Equivalency Degree (GED)?
- English as a second language (ESL) classes?
- English classes for advanced English speakers who earned a degree from their home country?
- English literacy and Civics classes to prepare for citizenship?
- Career transitions and career trainings while earning an in-demand credential such as CDL, welding, medical front office, forklift/shipping and receiving, certified nurse aide, phlebotomy, EKG technician, patient care technician, bilingual interpreter and translator, and more?
If so, contact the Fort Worth ISD Department of Adult Education to learn more about these free services throughout Tarrant County. Call (817) 815-7750 for more information or visit the Adult Education website under departments at fwisd.org
Free food today for eastside families (Thursday, 9/14)! Rain or shine, drive through, so you'll stay dry. Please be a good neighbor and share this with anyone you know who is food insecure. Family food boxes run out quickly, so be in the car line on Stalcup in front of Sunrise E.S. no later than 10 a.m. to be assured of being served. This is a joint effort between the FWISD Adult Education Department and the FWISD Family Action Center.
We're back! Heat got you down? Show up this Thursday before 10 a.m. and the 100-degree weather for a spot in line to receive family food boxes from this monthly event. While the focus for the Tarrant Area Food Bank is on serving eastside families and students, it is open to anyone. Please share!
We are always looking for volunteers to help with various activities hosted by the Family Action Center. Our next scheduled event is Thursday, Aug. 10, for the Stop Six Mobile Food Distribution. Anyone who is interested in giving back and serving others is invited to submit an application on https://www.fwisd.org/Page/346. Once in the system you will be notified of volunteer opportunities across the District.
Volunteers / Volunteer Home We are glad you are interested in learning about the Fort Worth ISD Volunteer Program and thank you for your support of Fort Worth ISD!
We would be neglect if we didn't thank long-time Stop Six Mobile Food Distribution coordinators Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Baldwin, who are the glue that makes this monthly mobile food event a success. Whether it's assembling a team to handle the required Tarrant Area Food Bank registration documentation and paperwork or allowing various organizations to come out and share useful information and opportunities with people who are waiting in the drive-through line, they help keep things in order from month to month.
The Tarrant Area Food Bank targets specific areas of need within the city for its services, including 76105 ZIP Code in east Fort Worth. When the Family Action Center was approached more than two years ago asking if we could help resurrect the Stop Six Mobile Food Bank, we jumped at the chance knowing that we have an unusually high number of food-insecure households on the east side. The question often arises each month where families can seek help between our second-Thursday-of-each-month Mobile Food distributions. We always tell people to visit the TAFB website to find additional resources:
https://tafb.org
We also tell them to be aware of numerous other organizations that have ongoing free food pantries where, unlike our mobile distributions, they can park, visit and shop for food such as Eastside Ministries, 4 Saints Food Pantry and the Central Bible Church Storehouse.
Meanwhile, our next food distribution is scheduled for Aug. 10, same time, same location.
Home Tarrant Area Food Bank serves a million meals a week and is the primary source of donated food for hunger-relief charities and programs.
Today’s Stop Six Tarrant Area Food Bank mobile food distribution was coordinated by Dr. Carlos Walker and Charles Hodges, directors of the Fort Worth ISD Family Action Center, the Director of FWISD Adult Education and her staff, Nydia Lewis, the New Life Christian Fellowship Church of God in Christ and its youth group, and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Baldwin, director of the Stop Six mobile food pantry. Assisting in this effort was Witherite Law Firm and several of its eager employees, as well as Alma Pohler, the FWISD volunteer coordinator, and the almost three dozen community volunteers who gave of their time and effort on a hot summer day to happily serve 250 food-insecure families. A special thanks to FWISD Trustee Tobi Jackson who stopped by and helped load food into waiting vehicles. This was the 25th consecutive month for this community event, which during that time has built and distributed more than 6,200 family food boxes helping more than 20,000 individuals. The next distribution date is set for August 10, 10 am. - noon.
Great things are happening in Poly!
Friday is mobile rec day at Fort Worth ISD Wm James’ Campus!
Tomorrow, June 8, is the last Tarrant Area Food Bank Distribution mobile drive-through of the summer sponsored by the FWISD Family Action Center and the FWISD Department of Adult Education. It's easy to reach! Between Berry and Ramey on Stalcup across the street from Sunrise E.S. Each family of 1-7 people will receive one box of food and any protein and dairy the TAFB provides us. Multiple families can carpool and receive their own family food boxes. Please share this with anyone who is experiencing food insecurity during these highly inflationary times. Everyone is welcome. It's first-come, first-served, and recently we've been running out of food by 11 a.m. or slightly after.
Proud of all the FWISD graduating seniors and their accomplishments. Glad to see so many high schools like Eastern Hills, Dunbar and Wyatt visiting their feeder schools to celebrate with the seniors and the next generation of high schoolers. The Family Action Center also thanks EHHS for allowing it to help set up its senior walk each year to ensure no school in the pyramid is missed for this very inspiring tradition.

They were selected by their schools’ administrators for their academic achievements, motivation and high character.
