Basswood Elementary School

District administrative offices and campuses will be closed for the week of July 1-5. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, July 9. Employees will work remotely on Mondays to help save on costs, so please be aware that our buildings will be closed on those days.

Keller ISD will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States and is recognized each June 19. Deriving its name from the combination of the words "June" and "nineteenth," it is celebrated on the anniversary of the June 19, 1865, order proclaiming freedom for slaves in Texas. It was designated as a federal holiday in 2021, thanks to the efforts of many, including Fort Worth's own Opal Lee.

Our Basswood Broadway Troupe, directed by Mrs. Wood and Mr. Turner, attended the NRH2O music festival today. They got to perform for a choral adjudicator who scored them a Superior Rating. This is the highest score possible! They had a blast sliding and swimming the rest of the day!

Teachers were treated to a sweet summer snack cart this morning- courtesy of our social committee. A little extra fun for the last Friday of the year!

Last call for lost & found. We still have A LOT of jackets and hoodies. Those 2 blue bins are full. These will be donated to charity next week if they are not claimed.

PLEASE put your child’s name in jackets and hoodies so we can avoid this. Thank you!

Career Day was amazing thanks to our dozens of volunteers who came and shared about their jobs at NASA, Bell, the Army, Fire and Police departments, and Southwest. We had musicians, attorneys, technicians, a swim coach and many, many more!

A big shout out to Mrs. Moncrief, Mr.Smith, and Mrs. Chavez for the hours they poured into planning Career Day and making it a success!
