Okay so I took these photos last week before I did the whole ChatGPT thing and it’s right, I’m a basic b**** butttttt it’s so pretty I’m posting my generic poses anyway!
I always have to thank this girl for humoring me and doing all the poses. The downside is I have to pick a favorite and I never can 🤦🏻♀️
Just to prove that I can in fact do something outside of straight up blonde 💗
Can’t wait to get in the new studio and play with my new camera even more 💕
Some of you know, but it’s official! As of July 8 I’ll will be located right down the street, 9705 Tehama Ridge Pkwy. I promise I will over communicate this whole transition to make sure everyone feels confident walking in for their appointments!
As usual, your first time at the location I will meet you at the front when you text me, so you don’t wander around.
Congrats to the
On a very real note, if you’re going to tell me you messed up your hair, send pics so I don’t imagine you bald 😅😂
Shout out to everyone who helps me create my dream career! Every comment, like, share, save or selfie helps me grow!
2023 had some great times, but let’s ring in 2024 with lots of hopes and dreams!
As you know, my schedule has gone through some adjustments starting tomorrow, so hold on tight! I’m making sure to add even more fun additions and changes this upcoming year!
Big News!
Starting in January, these will be my new hours. Our life has gotten crazy and we needed some more stability for Brooklyn, so she has been enrolled in starting in January.
If you have any questions, definitely reach out. I’m doing my best to accommodate everyone within this new schedule!
A lot has changed over the past 3 years Calluna Salon has been open. What do you see in this photo that’s changed?
Blonde hair MUST HAVES!
🤍 7 Seconds Detangler
Everyone gets some tangles, and the lighter your hair is, the more tangled it will get. Instead of ripping though your tangles and making you stylist cry, use a detangler and grab a to gently and effectively get se knots
🤍 Keratin Smooth 2-Phase Spray
A spray in smoothing treatment that has some thermal protection? Yes please! This product is easy to use and can be used to protect against the heat of the blowdryer.
🤍 .murphy Heated.Defense
Everyone needs some thermal protection before applying heat to their hair, especially those who also have colored hair which creates chemical damage. This product is a foam and easy to apply, smells fresh and clean and doesn’t make your hair feel heavy.
🤍 .murphy Shimmer.Shine
Simply because it’s a light oil spray that smells AMAZING and makes your hair soft and shiny without looking greasy.
What did I miss? Tag your favorite product lines or comment a product you can’t live without!
What’s the perfect product that every person should have?
Simply put, it doesn’t exist.
Every person has unique needs for their hair.
We have to ask questions like:
✨ How much hair do you have?
✨ Is your hair fine, medium or coarse?
✨ What is you natural curl pattern?
✨ Do you use heat on your hair and how often?
✨ Is your hair chemically treated and how?
✨ How do you want your hair to look when you’re all styled?
If you’ve gone to the store and just grabbed a product off the shelf that just didn’t work, maybe it’s time for a consultation.
Tag a friend who needs to see this!
Stay tuned for a list of my favorites 🤩
I’m out for the day! I promise I’ll be active and responsive, but it will have to wait until tomorrow!
Love you all, thanks for all the birthday wishes I’ve already gotten, it makes my heart smile 💕
Let’s talk sessions!
Why do some stylist suggest multiple sessions instead of one big one? Is it because we like money?
Well, as much as anyone likes money, I can assure you that is not the reason.
Multiple sessions allow us to use gentler product, which typically develops slower. It ensures that nothing about the service is rushed, and your hair can have some much needed integrity breaks.
When doing a multi-session blonding, I always suggest no less than 2 weeks between sessions. This two week period is ESSENTIAL for your hair to return to its normal pH, get some of your natural oils dispersed, and gives your at home treatment time to actually do it’s job.
Have you ever had your hair fried? Raise your hand 🙋🏼♀️
To all my existing clients:
What’s your favorite part about coming to the salon?
I want to continue to grow and fine tune my practice, and knowing what your favorite parts of your visit will allow me to lean into that and make it even more enjoyable!
Let’s be realistic:
When you walk in the salon with multicolored hair, at home hair color and/or VIVID colors, I’m going to have a tiny little panic attack.
Once I gather my thoughts, I’m going to sit you down and have a difficult conversation with you. What you want your hair to do, may or may not be possible today. It may or may not be possible at all.
So for this situation, I warned that some at home pink color will not leave the hair no matter what we do, so the only option may be to go brown for a while until the pink is long enough to cut off.
Of course this isn’t what you want to hear, but it’s my job to create an accurate expectation.
Good news, we did a test strand and the color came out. So our first appointment was simply color removal. We weren’t adding dimension or brightness, just dealing with the initial problem at hand. Sometimes that’s all we can do.
But session 2 is where we got good. This is *chefs kiss* perfect 😍
So let me ask,
If you sat in my chair and I said you needed multiple sessions, how does it make you feel?
What’s going on here?
Even though I’m in a private suite, it doesn’t stop us from building a community and learning. My friend has been working on and she’s shared with me how much she’s already grown as a stylist, and how motivated she is to continue to get better and better. I can’t help but jump on board and take a few people with me.
Who doesn’t want to grow? So here’s learning with me as we complete our workbooks together.
“Do whatever you want”
Words that terrify me and excite me all at the same time.
Here’s the thing, the first time you sit down in my chair, PLEASE do not tell me to do whatever I want. We just met. I don’t know you! 😅
If you are truly open minded to some ideas, come with a general idea of lighter/darker, warm/cool, dimensional/monochromatic. The rest I can figure out within your budget and maintenance preferences.
That being said, if you have been in my chair a few times and you say this, get ready for some fun. I love letting some creativity out within the parameters of your personality!
Have you ever told someone to do whatever they want and it ended badly? I want to hear that’s story ☕️⬇️⬇️
I'm SO curious! What is your most favorite part of your appointments?
- Being able to sit and chat with your stylist
- The shampoo and scalp massage
- All the yummy smells of the professional products
- The big reveal
- All the above!
Let me know in the comments below what you look forward to the most when coming to your appointments with me!
How do you ask for this blonde?
Well first let’s figure out what you actually like. Do you light how light it is? How dimensional it is? The tone?
If you like all of it, the next thing we have to figure out is what you’ve got going on in your hair right now. Do you have existing blonde? Colored brown? Virgin hair? How dark is your natural? How much hair do you have? What’s the texture?
All of these are factors in creating this look. If you want this exact look, be prepared for LOTS of foils, several hours in the chair and the potential that it’s not going to be done all in one service.
As your stylist, my job is to take photos as goals and inspiration, but it’s never a copy and paste situation. I’ll walk you through what we can do with your unique hair, and a process we can do to achieve your goals in a way that works for you, your time, your budget and your hair.
What’s the biggest issue you have when requesting certain looks?
Pet Peeve alert:
Self proclaimed “specialists” drive me nuts.
To me, in order to be a specialist in something within the beauty industry, you have to be able to work with even the most challenging canvases, and be able to create beautiful specialty work.
Anyone can take virgin hair and make it pretty. Anyone can take an existing blonde and make them blonder, but can your stylist correct banding, adjust bleed spots, heal damage and come up with a long term plan to reach your goals of beautiful healthy hair?
That’s what a specialist is to me.
Now the question, am I a specialist?
Simply put, no. I 100% believe in my abilities as a stylist, but I don’t believe there is any one specific thing I soar beyond within the industry.
My personal favorite service is blonding!
So to all my blondies, what do you think separates a good stylist from a great one?
Let’s talk DAMAGE
To me, healthy hair is beautiful hair. It’s my personal and professional preference to keep your hair healthy, even if it means we don’t get to your hair goals as quickly as you want.
Here we are showing what hair can look like when it’s over processed, and what an appropriate correction looks like in order to blend the previous color while also maintaining the hair’s integrity.
Sure, she’s not as blonde as she wants to be, but she still has hair!
If you want immediate results no matter the cost, I’m probably not the stylist for you. BUT if you want beautiful, healthy hair and long term goals to be met, I got you!
💛 if you love this blonde as much as I do 💛
Isn’t she gorgeous!? 🤩
I can’t help but share right away! I finally have lighting and backdrop set up in the salon, so get ready for some photoshoots!
This progression 😍
First picture is our current hair, the second picture is where we started and the next are the two previous sessions to get us primed and ready for this blend 😍😍
Pink removal 🥴
I always have a good old fashioned panic attack after someone has done at home color, especially fashion colors, and wants to remove them. Sometimes it just doesn’t work!
Typically I’ll do a strand test, because I don’t want to run the risk of the hair doing something really bad all over.
If this is you, come book a consultation to see what we can actually achieve! I love a challenge, but I never want to hurt someone’s hair!
Can’t wait for session 2 so we can refine this even further!!
The difference lighting makes 🤍💛
I dare you to wear black to your next appointment, we might have to do a photoshoot 📸
My baby sister is my favorite model 💇🏼♀️
