The Zeta Tau Lambda Educational Foundation hosted its Annual Scholarship Party, Linen and Sundresses. Proceeds help to provide scholarships and school supplies to students in the community. Thank you to all who came out and to all who supported.

U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a giant among giants left us. Her tenacity and strength were welcomed allies as she navigated the many nuances associated with advancing civil rights, racial and social justice, and human rights, especially for women and children. In 2001, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. honored Representative Lee’s service to the country with its highest award for a nonmember, the Alpha Award of Honor. Representative Lee’s passing denotes the loss of a congressional champion for marginalized communities domestically, abroad, and in Texas’ 18th Congressional District (Houston) where she served. She was a friend of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and will be greatly missed. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends.

A Message from House of Hope Church and Brother Dr. Chad Rankin :

Hello!! We have 200 free meals set up for 12pm at Dickinson High-school until we run out, today we are serving chopped beef bbq sandwiches with chips and fruit. Tonight a pizza place will be serving pizza here at 6pm. We have only had 25 people sign up for meals, and ten people stayed here last night. Please make sure your friends, family, and neighbors know that Dickinson High School is set up as a cooling center and a shelter. There are cots, and you can bring pillows, and blankets. If you have not already claimed your damage with the state, please do! It helps bring in the resources that we need. Tomorrow and Sunday we also have meals planned: Saturday at 12pm we will be serving Tacos Saturday at 6pm we will have spaghetti Sunday at 12pm Rudy’s is bringing in BBQ Sunday at 6pm we will be serving Chicken Alfredo. If more people do not sign up for meals, funding may adjust to accommodate smaller numbers. Please share, anyone can come! The more people the more we can help!!
